Why would the 'knowledgeable' posters give up posting?
For the same reason Bob took a break here. "
dancer may deny it, but he took a break because he challenged the forum to a popularity election between him and FP. he wanted to eliminate opinions that were different than his and free speech won out, in his calculation. I am also guessing he felt the forum would crumble without his expertise and insight.
cannot comment on wov site, as I have never read anything or posted anything. it just seems to me that if there were enough demand for conversations about the subjects that knowledgeable players seek, it would overwhelm and run off those who seek a different conversation. maybe, you over estimate those knowledgeable players who believe the machines can be beat and actually do it.
I even never saw the opportunity to vote. I just assumed Bob thought he lost. I might have easily missed it though. Can someone point me to the results?

if you read my post, I said IN HIS CALCULATION.
there was no actual vote and I do not like guessing what was in someone else's mind, but, if I recall correctly, dancer challenged the forum to decide who should take a leave from posting. there were enough posters who sided with the idea that all had a right to post, he felt he did not have enough supporters and he interpreted that in favor of FP.
I/m/o, he is a very intelligent man. but, he is also childish, he did not get his way, took his ball and went home. I would guess he felt the forum would suffer w/out him. the discussions might not meet the standards of the advantaged player, but they still go on, even w/out his contributions.

Anyone who thinks this forum is better without him is fooling themselves.

There was no vote. Bob proposed an ultimatum and no one jumped on his bandwagon, so he announced he was taking a vacation. Bob wants is to use this forum to promote himself, his radio show and his products. I think everyone is OK with that as long as he provides room for other voices.

I look forward to his feedback and don't take personal offense in his sarcasm especially since he's equally sarcastic to everyone. I learned a lot from him.

It would be immensely popular and he could edit the content at will instead of having to deal with distractions. I suspect he could even charge for access to it. When you put yourself up as a public target, you shouldn't be surprised when you take some shots.

In my opinion, Dancer really never had any desire to post in the forum here. He only posts because Videopoker.com is a sponsor on his radio show and part of the deal was that Dancer get more involved in the forum.
It was good for the owners of this forum to have Dancer posting but he couldn't care less about it.

From taking a few of his classes, I got the impression he enjoyed teaching and educating people. Like most teachers, he got annoyed when people felt that it was okay to spell felines as Kats.
