Biloxi
We are in Biloxi for a few days. We played at IP last night, good VP except some of the paytables are still under what they should be. Despite this, I did well on $5 DDB, with two AAAA's, a straight flush, and three regular quads. Total winnings of $13K before taxes and I still walked out with $8100. The ages-old problem is knowing when to quit when you are having a run like I had last night. In hindsight I should have stopped $2000 earlier, which would have given me a net of $10,100. But you never know what might pop up next.
Question: we are thinking of trying the Scarlet Pearl. Does anyone know if their initial paytables are still good? Is high limit crowded and/or smoky?
Thanks!!

I recall hearing about 9/7 TDB, 9/7 DB, and 9/6 DDB for $1 and up.
I am unsure about the smokiness or the crowds.
Mr. Dawes report on the Scarlet Pearl
I personally would not play the high payout Bonus games because of the state tax they have. Anyhow, congrats on your wins at the IP.

The odds vary by casino, but that state W2G thing is definitely rough.
Scarlet Pearl has full pay games for dollars in the high limit room according to VPFree2. But at $5, I bet the paytable lowers since it's not reported there.

We had three full days and part of a fourth day in Biloxi and the area. It was extremely hot and humid. The temperature and humidity in the IP's parking garage was so high I thought I would pass out.
---Day One, a fantastic run at the IP on $5 DDB. I hit Aces (no kicker) twice, a straight flush, and three regular quads. Gross winnings of $13K, walk-out winnings of $8100.
---Day Two, misery at the Scarlet Pearl. A very nice and new casino right across the bridge from the IP, paytables are decent, but I HIT NOTHING! I dropped $1500 without a single quad before escaping that place!
We had been to the Silver Slipper sometime ago. It is a small casino way to the west. However, we were going to New Orleans anyway so we stopped off at the Silver Slipper and I am glad we did. Good paytables, uncrowded, and I played $1 and $5 DDB. "Invested" $700 and walked out with $1800 for a net win of $1100 before taxes. Now up $7700 for the trip!
---Day 3, back at the IP but I could not re-create the magic of Thursday and I hit exactly one quad. Lost $700. We then drove back to Silver Slipper, making some stops along the way. There is a scenic route instead of the interstate highway if you have the time. The Silver Slipper was nice to me again. I had the entire four-machine bank of $5 machines to myself and I hit three regular quads and one 2222 (no kicker). In addition I had numerous fullhouses which I cashed out. Gross win of $6400 and walked out with $3470. Now up $10,470 for the trip (before taxes).
---Day Four we did not have time to go anywhere so I played briefly at IP before we left. Once again the machines were ice cold and I hit nothing, losing $500. So I ended the trip up almost $10,000, the best trip I have ever had anywhere outside of Vegas. I realize that I got super lucky with two sets of Aces during my very first session but even subtracting the Aces it would have been profitable. My recommendation for anyone going to Biloxi is to try the Silver Slipper, which is about 20 miles (+/-) to the west of Biloxi, way back in a corner all by itself. If you are going to New Orleans from Biloxi it is right on the way.

Congrats to you, Chicagoan. I remember the Silver Slipper back in Vegas; think it was next doorish to Circus, Circus. Was a fun place back then. Think they were one of thee first to go smoke-free; if memory serves me correctly.
