Sunday was my first JOB flush with four to a RF. Needless to say, I took in the bittersweet reality of the situation and went for the RF. Of course it would be at the too cute by half Tropicana.

Galygoo... This full does not get dealt that often so maybe I'll have to go your way and go for it the next time I get it... In the long run it ain't going to effect the days play if it does not hit the quads... In my opinion anyway...

It depends on what kind of luck I'm having that day. If I'm up I will go for the quad and sometimes I get lucky but normally I'm not winning so keep the full house. It's a particularly tough decision when on multi play. I have always kept the straight flush as it's a sure win.   Again, it's tough when you are playing multi hand but I keep it anyway.

b/t/w, I appreciate the input, am not offended if told I made the wrong play. I was playing DDB, SINGLE LINE, QUARTER.
From a mathematical point of view, it is not even very close. The value of the straight flush is, obviously, 250. The value of KQJ10 is 93.09.

I kept the SF, but am guessing I should have gone for the RF. never had this hand before, got it in tampa.

I never proclaimed to know the math, but as a general rule, I kind of remember the rule was never throw away a 250 or higher winner. I am likely wrong.

I also know that making a decision based on how one is doing at the time is wrong, but it is a factor to me. if I had been up substantially at the time, I may have gone for it, but I was down some.

For 4000 coin royals, it's 100 coins or higher where you shouldn't ever break the sure thing.

As for the OP, hold it at 8/5 or better, break at or 7/5 or less. If I didn't know the math, I have a feeling I would still hold 2s-4s full.

I do think, even if it were the wrong move, that if I were ahead, getting ready to quit, I would try for the RF.

while it may not make sense, I would never give up 400 credits or more.

Rules were made to be broken. For JOB or DDB, I'll keep the 9/10/J/QK straight flush always always. Guaranteed 250 coins versus 1 in 47 4,000 coin no brainer. Will cost you 46X250=11,500 coins for the one hit of 4,000 coins!
However....always an exception. Let's say I only am able to travel to the casino to play vp twice a year. I am down and it's my last day to play. HECK yes, gamble gamble! I think in those minor situations it's correct to put on your big boy pants and go for it! But despite those rare circumstances, it's a no brainer I think (no pun intended)

In January, I broke up and three deuce wild Royal to go for the fourth deuce. I figured I was assured of a 20 coin payout and had a shot at getting the deuce, getting five of a kind, or getting another royal. Did some rough math and figured keeping it was the better play, but how many chances do you get like this.
Of course it popped up. That trip they were an almost daily occurrence.
