Re: Bankroll Question

Post by elmoo168 »

Bankroll is the amount of money I've set aside that I'm willing to play with, just so I don't go nuts and use up all my money.  That would be bad!

I tried VPW's trial and it's very different than winpoker, even though they're both endorsed by Bob Dancer.  I kinda like VPW more for learning how to play though.

If I wanted to play $5/hand, which would be better:  $5 in a $1 9/5 or 8/5 machine (5 coins to enable the Royal Flush jackpot), or $5 in a $5 machine in a 9/6 machine where the Royal Flush is the same payout as a straight flush?  I've only gotten one RF in the last few years I've played, so I usually go for the $5 machines and play one coin, but after looking at all these posts of people hitting RFs it makes me want to go for it too!

Sorry if that last question has been answered before (it seems like a common question), I couldn't find a post that talked about it.

A "bankroll" is a term used to mean different things to different people. Originally, it was meant to signify the maximum amount a person could lose before going bankrupt and not being able to play again. Today, since most gamblers have other sources of income to continually replenish their "bankroll", it is often meant the amount of money taken to a casino for a given timeframe ... day, weekend, week ... I prefer to use the term "session stake" or even "session bankroll" for this latter situation. It eliminates the ambiguity.
