Happy Father's Day

Post by Lucky Larry »

A Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers out there. Sure wish my dad was still around to tell him how much i love him. A lot has changed in the last 36 years since he passed away. Take time to thank you dads or at least think about them.

Happy father's day to you Larry and all the other dads and granddads out there. To me, I always tell the kids that I don't need a special day, they should treat me well every day.

My father would have been 91 last week. He died when I was 20. I hardly thought of him for many years but recently am realizing what I missed out on.

Otabill,
You are so right!    I am blessed to be both a dad and grandfather as well. My youngest daughter calls almost every day. BTW:: Sweet C always told me how special being a grandparent would be. Her kids were older than mine and had earlier experience as a grandparent. Boy!!! She wasn't even close to how awesome being "pawpaw" is in life.

My father would have been 91 last week. He died when I was 20. I hardly thought of him for many years but recently am realizing what I missed out on.

I lost my dad two weeks after we had announced the upcoming birth of our first child 30+ years ago this week. Additionally, it was a time in my life when as a man, husband, and upcoming father I was beginning to see him in a different perspective. I can't tell you how many times, after he died, I talked to him while I was putting our daughter to sleep and how much he helped me especially in the first months and years of my daughter's life after his death. My goal was to be a father he would be proud of for him. Countless times since I've said, "I wish dad could be here..."

My brother who was 22 at the time felt very different and handled the situation with a different perspective. Sometimes it takes us time to realize what we have lost. Use your loss to make yourself the best person you can.
