you quit/surrender/take five, etc. I doubt it, but now you know others feel sometimes, when you won't let go of a topic.
I am honored that you would even consider me close to your knowledge/insight level.

olds, could not agree more. one added suggestion, let's have a reality tv show that shows what it is really like to be in prison, on 24 hours per day. it just might make people give second thought to committing crime.
due to my posts, I assume folks think I am an advocate for business, especially the financial arena. but, these crooks hurt my business, give us a bad name and need to be prosecuted. take away all the money, assets, their kids college money, everything...leave them penniless.
let's also start teaching finance to kids in school. learning about 'diversity' is fine, but too many know nothing about money, savings, credit, compounding, investing, etc.
They no longer want my wife to teach first graders about money, coins, etc. My wife works it in anyway. They also took away cursive writing. This is why young adults have to look at pictures on a register to ring up and some cannot even sigh their name. One exception...the Asian kids excel in math and money.

sorry guys...lots of good meat and potatoes here, I just don't have the time to read and digest it all. Good luck out there anyway. Spending lots more time with dad lately. More important than the casino.

olds, I am really curious. I have little idea what young kids are taught, why don't they want them to learn about money/spending/credit/savings, etc?

My wife has been teaching school (I think it's called skool now)for years, I have asked her to not tell me anything else because it pisses me off to hear about all the crap going on.

Some of this is my opinion, but I can support it by what I see going on in the classrooms and what I hear from other teachers and not just my wife. Evidently the brain washing by ultra liberal administrations is starting at a very young age. My wife does what she calls a money count every day involving coins, savings, a little math, etc. This is not part of the curriculum anymore, but she works it in anyway so these kids will be ready for second grade and life too. These little ones are a wiz with computers, but lack common sense a lot of the time. Many of the ultra liberal programs are state mandated which as some know in Ct. are controled by an idiot Governor and democrats. Political correctness seems to be the dominant theme. Many of these kids are already on state assistance and unfortunately will no doubt follow in their parent's footsteps and perpetuate that way of life. My wife trys to give them a chance, puts in her own money when some of the kids can't afford the nominal field trip charge etc. Unfortunately, things like homework and discipline are a not priority at home. Some never do homework and the parents could care less. There are many broken homes, some kids even have guardians raising them because none of the relatives are fit to do anything. Sometimes teacher conferences have to be carefully arranged because there are multiple fathers with the same mother and the school doesn't want incidents in the school. I could go on and on, but I will try and cut it short. Another thing our city does is try every liberal social and experimental program out there. They waste a ton on taxpayer money on them, they don't work, and they just dump them the following year. Of course the teachers are mandated to follow these programs. The bottom line is I think these kids are being set up so when and if they get to high school and college, their minds will already be open to the liberal and socialist professors that permeate our nation's colleges and universities. There is one final sad part, but I have to admire the kids and parents who see this through. Some of the foreign students in my wife's classroom excel far beyond our American students. They have study discipline at home. Sometimes they come to school knowing no English, but by the end of the school year are running circles around our home grown kids. The parents never miss a conference and follow through on the teacher's recommendations. So that is it folks. Unless we get back to basics soon and really everything does start at home, I am really afraid for the future of this country. One final thing. You would think from reading this, that the school is an inner city one. Far from that. A small city about 50 miles from NYC and in the suburbs with some pretty wealthy areas. Yet many of the same problems as inner city schools exist here too.
Edited to add....there are just a handfull of old time teachers left. My wife spends over a hundred hours a week in and out of the school. We never go anywhere where books, lessons, etc are not spread all over the car or our home. The other old time teachers have similar routines. In a couple of years they will all be retired. Many of the newer teachers run out of school like leaving a factory. What is going to happen, if these newer teachers just go with the flow and treat everything just like a job they can't wait to be away from and head for the nearest happy hour with their Iphone and non stop social media gibberish in hand.

olds, terrific post, your wife along with the many other dedicated teachers deserve a medal. I like the idea of using money as way to improve math skills. I am not so happy with some of the teacher unions though.
the brexit vote should be an eye opener for all those in favor of 'one world order' and ultra liberalism where laws are decided in far away places to benefit the few instead of the masses. if this had taken place in America, the news folks would be calling those in favor of leaving as right wing, gun toting, uneducated, bible believers.
I am confident what swung the vote was the idea of some group of foreign ministers in Belgium telling the folks in britan they had to take in untold numbers of refugees/migrants/immigrants or whatever the new PC correct term is.
between the US supreme court up holding lower court decision on immigration and the brexit vote, it was not a good day for Obama and his supporters.

Thanks Notes. Funny you mentioned the medals. On those really tough days or after some really neat accomplishment my wife has shared with me about school, as she is literally falling asleep from exhaustion still with papers spread all over the place, I quietly slip upstairs and gather up a couple of my target shooting medals, slip downstairs while she is still dozing and gently place them on her school papers. When she wakes up a little, I chuckle and say...Oh these just came from the school for all your hard work today. Of course she knows what they are and just smiles, says thanks, and delves back into the lessons. Edited to add.....she did get one real medal from them once. She got teacher of the year in our city a few years back. That was nice and of course well deserved. Good thing she has vp for a little break once in awhile. She just forgets about the real world even if it is only for a few hours. One way of keeping her sanity I think and IMO is very therapeutic even if it costs us a few bucks sometimes. Of course the lessons are still worked on both up and back in the car.
