Re: Bob Dancer LasVegasAdvisor 6-14-2016 Article
Math can tell you the right games to play, but it won't affect your
actual results. Luck is the 500 pound gorilla in the room. Without
enough of it at the right time, you are a loser no matter how skillful
or disciplined you are.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Absolute gospel. Incidentally, you put luck on quite the diet. It is an an 800 pound gorilla. Here in Vegas, that Gorilla has access to numerous all-you-can-eat buffets, and that Gorilla has no shame in getting her grub on, so you can add a few hundred more pounds to that Gorilla!

That's a lot of bananas. It's not impossible, either. Did you see the orangutan escape at your local Busch Gardens Tampa, FP?

No. There are so many strange animals running around Florida these days that I wouldn't be surprised by anything. By the way, if you happen to be in Florida don't get in the water...

my head hurts after reading this thread.....why? What is really being debated or discussed here????AS for someone moving to Vegas......there are so many many reasons to move to Vegas that have NOTHING to do with gambling or casinos or any of that. AND of course there are MANY reasons to move to Vegas that DO have EVERYTHING to do with gambling, casinos, etc.I have considered it, and I have reasons in BOTH spheres: I would love to live in Vegas for the climate......no snowy frigid winters is awesome! You have no idea.......!Also, if I wanted to really apply myself to becoming a professional POKER player, Vegas is the place to be .......... (although RENO might be the best option.......) In reno, there is plenty of Poker action and its close to Vegas when I need to get there......in Reno, the summers are not as brutally hotttt, although they can get a little snow from time to time, but not like I currently deal with in New England.I live an hour and 10 minutes from Foxwodds and Mohegan Sun in Connecticut......I rarely if ever frequent either place, maybe once every 3-4 months IF THAT, and its for Poker tournaments. I would rather travel once a month (or less lately) to AC on a Bus ride that takes a total of 7-8 hours each way......

All I wanted to get out of this article was the fact that I once thought Mr. Dancer had robot like instincts to play through video poker. He has shown some human like feelings, but still does not take away from being a capable player regardless.
The direction and tangents it went through is beyond my control. I agree with billryan said, haters are gonna hate.

Forgot to throw in my two cents with regards to relocating to Vegas, at least you (as well as Ted) are some the few people that understand the good parts of it outside of the notorious things like crime, gambling, drugs, and such. One noticeable downside as you've mentioned, the weather gets very hot, but on the cooler days, there are many outdoor recreational activities there such as hiking and golf.
Reno may look close to Vegas on a straight line path on a map, but with the mountain ranges in between, it is anything but straight from what I remember. I would say Lake Tahoe is the more appealing part. The winters in Lake Tahoe is nice for skiers and snowboarders and I think the spring is perfect.
If you do try out to be a Poker pro (that might be your stronger suit than video poker or casino gambling), hope you are in good financial shape and have a solid plan B if the losses mount so much. You only see the winners on TV, but you do not see the 9 out of 10 people who've ruined their lives going for it.

I live in Henderson, one block east of the Henderson/ Paradise border. Henderson is ,year after year, one of the safest cities in the country. Like most cities or urban centers, much of the crime, especially the violence, is confined to a few neighborhoods. If you aren't looking for drugs, or streetwise, it's pretty easy to avoid them.
The lack of humidity helps tremendously with the heat.
I have not made the trip to Reno, but am told it's a solid eight hour ride unless you bring a cooler and a portable urinal.

Thanks for that information, never knew about the safety ratings being good there. Usually in good neighborhoods the most severe crime is theft. The border between Henderson and Paradise (Airport+Strip) is very wide. Do you recommend Henderson over Summerlin?
