Re: Taj Mahal's Future
Sorry too for anyone who had their plans wrecked. I have to agree with DB that people turning away from God and decency has a lot to do with the myriad of problems in the world today. Unfortunately even in ancient history, man has repeated his digressions over and over. By man of course I mean humans. If any AC disappointees find their way up to Mohegan Sun and see a kinda short, balding, little stocky, pretty tan guy in his late 60's not smoking of course, ask him if he is Olds. If you find me, at least you will get a trip to the lounge or at minimum a beer or coffee and. Unfortunately, you might have to ask 50 vp players who look like this if they are Olds. I can shorten your list of askees a bit. I will in the summer be wearing denim shorts, and a button down shirt with a pocket for phone and glasses. If playing, the glasses will be on. Should only have to ask about 20 people now. Maybe only ten people if you look in the middle of the night or real early AM which is usually when I play.

"I understand and support the right of organized labor to strike, as long as it is legal. what I do not understand are the unions that strike against companies that are struggling financially. what good does it do in the long run. "

I have talked about this in the past: The upper management of Local 54, starting with Mcdeavit, is rife with controversy and questionable standards and motives......he pulls down something like half a million just by sitting as the "head" of the union, and he has several family members in high positions in the Union upper ranks, all earning big bucks.Sadly, on the Casino Management side, you have a case of incompetence and questionable actions going back decades to the time the TAJ (and TRUMP) first opened in 1990.......In the 1960s, when America was truly the mightiest and most powerful economic nation (by FAR) EVER in Human History, the average CEO earned about 35 times what the AVERAGE worker earned......Today, in 2016, the average CEO now earns 300 (yes....THREE HUNDRED) times what the average worker earns.......When we talk about the disparity and gap in income & wealth in the USA (the top 1% versus the rest of us in the 99%....or we can expand it and say top 10% versus the remaining 90%) and how it continues to get worse, and is at the heart of MANY issues and economic problems as well as the heart of the political struggle between the Republicans who represent the 1% and the Democrats (most who claim to represent the 99% but in actuality ALSO support the 1%.....!) This fight extends into the working/employment sector by means of this ongoing struggle regarding wages and pay and benefits etc.You can rest assured that even with the Taj Mahal's pathetic and dismal financial history and records of its performance over the decades since it opened, that those who have been "in charge" have ALWAYS (somehow) been well compensated and taken care of......from the days when Trump repeatedly looted and gutted the TAJ for his own personal benefit or the benefit of many of his hare(hair?)brained other investment schemes, to the recent days when even in bankruptcy the top managers somehow always received fat bonuses. This is just unfair and really needs to stop.....Especially when the HEART of the matter NOW, TODAY, is about HEALTHCARE and HEALTH BENEFITS. The Union wants Benefits restored to level that has not existed in at least 5 years.....here again, we see the issue that I have been repeatedly saying over and over is the one that is KILLING the USA, and here we see it killing (maybe) a company that also has several other potentially fatal conditions!!!!! Simply put, the workers want their health benefits restored and Mr. Icahn is essentially saying that, given the current state of things and the economy, he cannot restore them to THAT level and run the casino profitably. I read earlier today that The Taj Managment, led by Mr Tony Rodio (or Rodeo?) of the Tropicana Management Group (who run the TROP-AC for Icahn too) has offered to restore Health benefits to the UNION but ONLY partially, still below the level the Union Wants.....I do NOT know the precise figures or how MUCH less the offer is......
