Racism is the refuge of the IDIOTS and the EVIL

Post by DaBurglar »

Those of us who disapprove or disagree with Black Lives matter (and that includes MYSELF, Da Burglar)  are behooved however, to acknowledge that while the MOVEMENT itself is flawed and is causing way more harm than good,  the basis and motivation FOR the movement is 100% valid and correct.   The African american commnity needs to find a better, more proactive and less controversial means for addressing the completely VALID issues they have.....two wrongs never make a right and that applies to everyone EVERYWHERE.     The VAST VAST majority of law enforcement around the USA is GOOD, honest, caring people of all races, gender etc.....however, cops are HUMAN too and there are indeed a certain number of rotten (some REALLY rotten) apples hiding and existing amongst the good guys....this is UNDeniable.     Clearly mistakes have been made and certain incidents have taken place that clearly involve unwarranted Police use of force and Killings of Minorities......as my Cousin, the former chief of Police for a town of 25,000 people attests, no crisis or no "Extreme circumstances" encountered by a cop Justifies shooting a person who does not warrant such action, REGARDLESS of anything else.     I have to agree with him.......honest mistakes are still mistakes and if someone dies that should not have died, accountability is required.   But when there CLEARLY is more to it, when it is OBVIOUS that there is a trend or targetting of soecific races, or even just tacit, passive attitudes towards Police usage of excessive force, you have a serious problem. There is a growing, virulent, unhindered current of RACISM in US society today primarily involving White Males against African Americans, hispanic and people from the Middle east.    It has very little to do with the usual "excuses"  regarding Blacks being incarcerated at a higher ratio, or Blacks scoring lower on tests (tests which are both ethnically biased and flawed anyway.)  etc etc. This is just plain old IGNORANT, STUPID, PAthetic, Unintelligent red neck good ol' boy hatred at work........we all have seen it, and maybe it is a lot closer to home than  any of us wish to acknowledge.   Read this pathetic story concerning the VERY funny and talented actress starring in the new Ghostbusters movie, and then ask yourself WHAT on earth is going on with the people (white males mostly) who engage in this horrible behavior?   And then ponder what detrimental impact this has on the who situation in general!https://www.yahoo.com/celebrity/leslie- ... 8.htmlNone of us choose our race, our family, what we look like, our physical circumstances, etc.      When Anyone I am with or around starts in with ANY type of blatant over racism I always counter punch with such inconvenient facts as if you travel through out the states of West Virginia, Western North Carolina and South Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, Southern Ohio, southrn Indiana and Southern Illinois, you will see WIDE swaths of areas inhabited by lower middle to LOW income white people, who have the same problems and circumstances as many minorities do in the Urban/City settings!    (so called  "WHITE TRASH")   Same problems with Drugs and Criminal records; same deal with single parents and the inability to keep it together as a family, and most of all, Same lack of opportunity and chances for betterment because the policies of the Government the last 25 years has decidedly CLOBBERED the middle class and below and the safety net has not expanded wide enough and far enough to help enough people. My point:   White, Black, Hispanic, Yellow, etc etc   the lack of economic opportunity, combined with sheer HATE FILLED racism is the culprit to this "SPIRIT" we now have in the USA that is galvanizing Cops targeting blacks and the resulting backlash of blacks using movements like BLM as a means for revenge.I hate it, I just hate it.

At this point time, this country is very close to happenings and thinking in the 60's. I hate it too, but I also see no end to it unless a lot of things change. I actually lived barely through the race riots in the 60's. My at the time girlfriend lived in New Haven. Very nice Polish family. Hard working dad who worked in a factory making cardboard boxes. I will never forget this incident. The rioters were moving down the street where my girlfriend lived. The family had a 2nd floor flat. The first thing they did was destroy the family car. We saw that out the window upstairs. The next thing we knew they were coming up the narrow and steep stairwell to the second floor where the family lived. There were 3 young girls in the family and my girlfriend was one of them. The dad was built like a bull and I at the time was in the best shape of my life too. Anyway, we picked up the huge heavy giant oak bureau and pushed it down the stairs onto the rioters. There were at least 4 or 5 of them. They went down like bowling pins, were dragged away by others while myself and the dad stood at the top of the stairs with baseball bats and kitchen knives. They moved off down the street, but that was a very close call. The big difference back then was the guns. Few of the rioters had them. Today, I think we would have been blown away before we could have shoved the bureau down the stairwell. Of course all of the guns they would have today would be illegal. I really did not want to relive this incident again, but the entire subject is coming up in everyday conversations the diner and even in the casino. On a lite note, the mom of my girlfriend made the best stuffed cabbage I have ever had and my mom's was outstanding too. My car at the time was a tiny MG midget and had been parked in the lawn behind the house. It was untouched. I remember staying late into the night with the family as a bit of added protection. The police finally secured the area somewhat and I still remember the father offering me a cold beer a couple of hours later even though I was barely 18 at the time.

1967 the year of the riots in NJ, both my older brothers were cops. One was on the Plainfield force where his fellow officer and friend John V Gleason was stomped to death by savages during the riots. My other brother was in the State Police and spent 4 days and nights in Newark. Interesting fact when the troopers arrived in Newark the city police and the National Guard were already there but not allowed to return fire when being shot at, that immediately changed when the Troopers arrived. If something doesn't change I fear it could be '67 all over again.

I seem to remember something about Chicago having issues then too, Mayor Richard J. Daley giving his famous "shoot to kill" order.

I have had similar eperiences to Olds and Jeter, growing up in the projects in Queens NY. My 17 year old friend was beaten to death by a gang of 14 and 15 year old kids. Whites were targeted by blacks and I was "jumped" quite a few times, yet I knew it wasn't all blacks that were after me, but there were enough that it was a problem. I never let those experiences alter my view that there was good and bad in everyone. But what is going on today goes well beyond what I experienced.  Yes I believe BLM is a racist group and they should be condemmed by our president, but that will not happen because he sympathizes (I din't say support) their "cause". They openly advocate killing cops. What I find interesting is the number of clueless white kids that are in these marches. The last one in Cleveland was almost all white kids from Oberlin College. I'll bet none of those kids grew up in the projects.

BLM does not advocate killing cops, anymore than the republican party advocates executing Hillary Clinton.
It's amazing how you dismiss the rhetoric of one groups extremists but paint the other side with the words of a few.

The Republican party has an elected official who has publicly stated that no one is safe until the the last cop is dead. Will you denounce the whole party as wanting to kill cops?

Bill, I normally enjoy your posts, but you know the BLM marchers are chanting death to cops, fry the pigs etc.I really don't recall anyone from the republican party calling for the death of Hillary Clinton. If you can correct me, I'll stand corrected. It is clear we are on different ends of the political spectrum, but some things are pretty clear. I personally don't like Donald Trump, but I understand how we got to where we are. What a sad choice we have to make.

Just yesterday, one of Trumps advisors stated Hillary should be put on a firing line and executed. Next you have a New Hamshire State Senator who said no one in America is safe until the last cop is killed.
Yes, some people on both sides go way too far, but that doesn't negate the entire movement.

I don't want to speak for notes and olds, but I think they and myself would totally denounce any rhetoric that called for the death of Mrs. Clinton and of course the the same calling for the death of cops. One cannot defend that kind of evil rhetoric.
