Re: Finally a nice hit at Mohegan Sun
I know it will end soon, but the extremely long cold cycle at Mohegan is still broken. I had a nice overnight trip last night. Had a front row center stage seat for the Paul Anka show which was really good, and all of the 4 machines I played rewarded me at some point in the session. My play was about evenly split between DDS deuces wild, DDS bonus deuces wild, spin poker quarter game for bonus deuces wild, and spin poker dollar game for bonus deuces wild. Both spin poker games did not have the royal penalty for betting less than 5 coins which I think will probably still be a short lived anomaly on some all star poker machines. While I can play them, I am taking full advantage of short coining them and still getting paid the 800 for 1 if I do hit a Royal.
These are the hits...Wild Royal on DDS regular deuces for 600-
Wild Royal on DDS bonus deuces for 400-
Quad deuces on the quarter Bonus deuces spin poker game for 400-
Quad deuces with an Ace on the Bonus Deuces Wild spin poker dollar game and on another line regular quad deuces. I was playing 3 lines and the total hit was 600-
I also hit 5 Aces on the dollar spin poker game 3 times for a total of 240-.
Of course all of the above hits were not pure profit and a good chunk of them went to pay for the losses while waiting to hit some premium hands. Total play time was about ten hours, but that was split between last night and this morning. Needless to say, I was still a happy camper for the session. My total coin in was about 25k and no Royals hit. My expected loss should have been about 1k. I get that from the rough average 98% paytables on the above games ( some a little higher and some a little lower ). I also figured another 2 percent round number penalty for not hitting any royals.
What saved me was making sure I bet enough to be even or better when the smallest premium hand hit. The bets got a little high at times, but that is when the premium hands hit for the most part.

Thanks....I just hope this will be an 800 page novel where the good guys and gals win ( all of us ) and not a 2 page short story with a sad ending...
edited to add....my sister and I just made 2 great CDs for my 92 year young dad through I tunes etc. Of course My way was on it. My dad played sax and clarinet in the big bands in the 40's and even had his own hit record in 1947 where he was the vocalist. Of course no royalties back then. everything went to the band leader.

My expected loss should have been about 1k. -------------------------------------------------------------I guess that you ultimately would have been okay with that. My problem is when my actual loss is quadruple "expected loss." And even higher without my modified CS deviations. I need to get back to expected loss levels when I have losing days!

I can just never seem to get ahead on JOB for any length of time. Especially without the Royals.

Especially without RFs.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------99.54% is a misleading and useless stat. I guess it's lower for you. I should have quit for the year after my March RF and spared myself the losses.

Why do you say that? And, if you don't use "useless" information like this to decide what to play, how do you decide?

Probably after this post or next, nobody will believe me without pics posted to back this up. Had a very special occasion overnight last night with the Mrs. at Mohegan. I must say, they pulled out all of the stops for me and I didn't ask for a thing except a room. Anyway, when we checked in, I find that they gave us a room on the top celebrity and ultra high roller floor complete with great cake from their bakery, decorations, wine, godiva choc, an on and on. I suspected who to thank and I was right so we did that right away and also gave the employee an envelope when we checked out. Nice low key dinner, then on to video poker. I have most of this on my phone, so if I ever run into any of you, you can see it there. It is an old flip phone, and I am clueless hot to send pics here. I can barely get around this site.
We probably started playing around 9 and the Mrs. packed it in around one. She had minor losses. I played my usual DDS deuces wild, DDS bonus deuces wild, and both the quarter and dollar All Star machines spin poker and only the Bonus Deuces wild game. Speaking of wild.....the best hit was on DDS bonus deuces. Quad deuces with the ace for 5600 bucks. I had 2 wild royals also while playing DDS both of which were good for payouts in the 500 range. I also caught low number 5 of a kinds for a few hundred each hit. On the spin poker game I treaded water on the quarter game with the poorer odds and got off that game and hit the dollar game. By that time, the five grand was socked away, and I was just playing for fun with scraps. Boom, quad deuces on several lines and a couple of good smaller hits for another hand pay of 1700. The same machine then gave me 5 aces 4 times. It was now 5 am and I knew I had to drive home in the late am, so reluctantly I packed in by 6 even though the machines were still hot. I did give job an hour of play on quarters and halves before heading upstairs. I proceeded to give back 300 bucks in just an hour. No quads and only 2 full houses. Horrible dud streaks too and this was on the 99 percent machines. All in all of course a great trip. This can't possibly go on much longer. I am actually pretty close to even for the year now which started out so horribly with almost no royals and few premium hands. One funny side note. I played mostly on the Mrs. card since I have already hit level 3 for the next cycle and she is at the bottom tier. In the middle of the night, I switched to my card just so they wouldn't think I was taking advantage without playing at all. The very first hand with my card in was that 5600- hit.
