Re: Quick Quads Strategy
I think the biggest strategy gains come from two plays:
1) If dealt 3oak (2-10) and a card lower than the trips, keep that card with the trips. 5 5 5 J 3 ... keep 5 5 5 3.
2) If dealt a pair (2-10) and two other card add up to the same value as the pair cards, keep all four cards. 7 7 3 4 5 ... keep 7 7 3 4.That's about what I'd concluded. Dealt 773kj would you hold the 773 or just the 77. In playing around, I've held the "3" but usually it comes up with a zero win. I have hit 2 pair and full houses as well as 3-7's on that hold but think the best hold is probably just the two 7's.Right after I posted this, I drew 777aa. Hard to throw away that ace that breaks up the FH, but it worked, Drew a 6 for the QQ.

I'd hold K,K,10,10. But then again, I'm bottom-feeding in the to-date rankings.

More cursing, too, as years and years of "automatic" holds are un-learned.

Just hold the 7 7.

You should only break up a FH for 3 aces.

It might catch on but the extra coin could be a problem. It can really eat away credits quickly. At least the DDB version I've been playing.
My first effort at coming up with a payback is not going well. I decided to use some old code I did for JOB and modified it first for 9/6 DDB. The problem is I only get 98.6%. I can see I'm getting more FHs than I should but I haven't found the problem yet. I decided to modify this for QQs anyway and got a payback of 97.7%. So, I guessing the actual payback is around 98%.

So, I guessing the actual payback is around 98%.Just looking at my results without optimum strategy, I was thinking more in the 97% range but that is strictly a guess with nothing to back it up. I do know that paying that extra credit for the Quad option seems to be sort of a sucker bet. You don't get the opportunity to draw to the option (ie have a low pair matched with two cards that add up to the face value of the cards in the pair) all that often. Of course trips is another shot at QQ but then again, to really take advantage of that option you would have to have low trips augmented by one card that is lower than the trips to give you a shot at hitting QQ. And, if you hit it, you are looking at a 250 credit payback. Not 4,000!All in all, I'm just not sure having that QQ option is worth an extra credit.Hmmm, What would the payoff be on three Deuces with two Aces playing Double Double Bonus? Would it be 400 for the quads or would it be 1000 for the kicker?
