Watched a guy win 100k

Post by roveer »

It's been a while since I've posted. Been going to Harrah's with Mixed results. Currently on a 3 visit winning streak so this is my off week. Learning to take much smaller wins (1-2k) and leave ahead.

So I was at Harrah's last Wednesday night and noticed a guy playing $25 single line VP. That's 125 a deal. Every once in a while he'd catch something and win 20-30k. About an hour later I noticed a bit of a commotion with more than one attendant and decided to get up and take a look. He caught a royal for 100k. Looked about as excited as when I get a 4k royal.

It seemed like after that he poured quite a bit of it back in but I wasn't really watching. In my breif time watching him he probably had 2-3 more hand pays.

His comment was, "yeah, but I have nights where I'm down a hundred". Just another level of play I guess.

I would have been out of there so fast they wouldn't have time to delivery my last drink.

Anyway. Hoping to continue my streak with my new bankroll discipline and let it add up slowly.

I have been working on the same thing as you Rov for the last few months. My goal is to hit 300 per session and quit. Since I only live an hour away from Mohegan Sun, it is no big deal to go up there 3 times a week. The hard part I am finding is quitting for the day when hitting early in the session. Unfortunately, we love to play vp so much, quitting is very hard especially after hitting early. I have tried with very limited success playing really low denomination machines after an early hit and have run into one problem. When I get down a few bucks on the low denomination machine instead of quitting and calling it a day, I will increase the denomination in an attempt to get the few bucks lost back. That hardly ever works. Anyway, I am still working on it. I have very little trouble quitting after hitting late in a session. Good luck and glad to see you back.

I wish I had so much money I wouldn't have issues dropping 100k in a night...

Hopefully it will be your turn for a big royal next roveer!

All I can add is that I've never received a dealt royal. I'm probably 1.5MM+ hands at this point. with 649,739:1 odds I'd think I'm due...

nice to hear from you again roveer.....and I wish you success with this new approach....I've had more success in my last three visits to AC (May, June & July so far of this year, although even my last trip I still finished slightly down despite a slew of decent hits)  Than I had in the whole period 2013-2015!!!And more and more I have found myself at Harrahs, so I would almost think it a certainty that our paths must have crossed......I am at a disadvantage here since obviously you know what I look like and I am easy to identify and pick out.......so I just want to encourage you thusly:  IF YOU SEE ME during one of your future visits to Harrahs AC, PLEASE introduce yourself!   Do not fear....I am NOT going to attach myself and then follow you around (and I hope you will NOT do the same to me!)    I'd just like to meet you at least for a few minutes.......

DB I know we have missed each other a few times the last couple of years. I am starting a little play at Foxwoods so I will keep my eyes peeled there or in the poker room if I wander over there. One thing I can't guarantee though if you looked like one or two of my favorite waitresses and that is I might in fact follow you around for a bit. Hope the Mrs isn't reading this post. I already caught got caught by her BS ing just a little too long with one of them. All innocent of course, but she was not amused. PS....don't rile an Irish gal.

I've had a total of 8 dealt royals to date all at the same casino in the last 7 years. In 20 plus years of playing vp in Tunica, Ms. I have never had a dealt royal. The casino I hit all the dealt royals at used to have a billboard that said "Have you had your royal today".

So nice to see you back here, Roveer.  You have brought some interesting stories to us before; this one just kinda made me wonder "who the hell has that kinda money to gamble with?"   and his reply about losing a hundred on a night just made me sick

It's all relative based on your net worth. I work for some high dollar individuals and a 120k sports car is the equivalent of beer money in my world. It really makes you think...

If your sitting on a 400MM fortune and get anywhere near 10% return that's 40MM / year to play with. A hundred grand now looks like lunch money. Try that with 1.2B and it's even crazier. Now sure why you'd be sitting in Harrah's AC at 1:30 in the morning, but then again, what am I doing there?
