Start betting just a quarter. Anytime you hit a quad, cash out the
ticket and start over betting just a quarter. If you lose 25 quarters,
bet 2 quarters. If you lose the $12.50 from betting 2 quarters bet 3 and
follow the same pattern. If you get up to say 5 quarters and have to go
home, on your next trip you will have to start where you left off. I
can't handle the torture and lack of excitement from betting this way.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Who can? That's a great system, if anyone can actually adhere to it. Bankroll Retention 101. You do eight hour days, so patience is your stock in trade. You would have the perfect personality to even venture it, and you can't abide the very idea. JOB is boring enough. The main excitement is the run up on a hot machine. And I can't even bring myself to run when it goes ice cold. I so envy the CS guy next to me who did a buck a hand. He quickly hit a quad, made his tiny profit and celebrated with the wife. I did my drunken sailor routine. The take away is that the August hot machine is the Sept cooler. I will avoid like the plague henceforth. I will bring a photo of Kenny Rogers on my next visit to prop up as inspiration next time, while writing out his lyrics in longhand on the back. The losing has risen to a pont where the drunken sailor freewheeling must immediately cease. This much is absolutely certain. I will not go max until an hour of holding my own has occurred.

GUESS WHAT PHIL....YOU MAY BE CORRECT. LATELY, I HAVE BEEN PAID BY THE SUPERVISORS, GET A FROWN WHEN I ASK FOR A CHECK, AND EVEN MY FRIENDS AT THE CONCIERGE DESK, TELL ME THEY HAVE BANNED PLAYERS THERE BEFORE FOR WINNING TOO MUCH. I STILL THINK THIS IS A SHORT TERM FLUKE AND THEY ARE TAKING A WAIT AND SEE ATTITUDE. I WILL SAY THAT THE HIGHER UPS THAT I HAVE BY CHANCE CROSSED PATHS WITH LATELY, HAVEN'T BEEN QUITE AS CHATTY AND SMILING AS WHEN I WAS LOSING EVERY SESSION BETWEEN 500 AND 1500 BUCKS.

From hearing about the past stories, I suspect that you might be on their watch list. I was surprised they've taken away some of your hotel stay privileges even before all these good wins.

In general casino hosts are almost like salespeople, they get paid in a form of commission based on your play as well as your actual losses. Their goal is to try to get you back and they have an allocated budget to invest in the form of discretionary comps to get you to come back. Since Mohegan Sun is so big, there might be multiple people involved in handling people.

I suspect since you built good relationships (usually a good humanistic ability) with some of them, you are on their list to look out for. With those winnings, I doubt they are going to get paid from your action. I would think there are many others that can give them the commission they want and not focus squarely on you.

I am folding them as we speak....another budget buster last night another 500 gone. Foxwoods here I come. They just offered me some good comps. Funny, since I have given back about 3k to Mohegan, my comp room offers are back. What a world.

Mohegan Sun does not have assigned hosts even for level 3 which is where I am. However, I did find I am on their watch list from a very reliable source. What I find interesting and somewhat disturbing is when I bet 1 coin which is usually a dollar on the machines that pay 800 for bet 1 for the Royal, I can hold my own all evening and even rack up a small profit. As soon as I get past bet 2 and especially when I am betting in the 5 buck a hand range, the machines go into a real dud cycle. I have been noticing this for years, but it seems more pronounced now since I have had the mini run of hand pays. I hope their is nothing to it and it is all just coincidence. At any rate, I am giving Mohegan a break and switching to Foxwoods for the next few trips. I wonder if someone sold my information to them because since I had the hits, I have started receiving offers from them and I haven't even played there but once in the last 3 years and that was only for an hour or so. Hmmmmm. I hate to fall back into conspiracy mode, but all of my hits were when Mohegan was doing an upgrade and they had all kinds of system glitches and partial system shutdowns etc. For a while the only thing that was working were the machines themselves. Everything else was down and that is when I had the 2 largest hits for 18k each and less than 24 hours apart. Everything for them has been up and running like clockwork again for them system wise as of a couple of weeks ago and that is when I started losing again with patterns familiar to those of the past 3 years. I even tried job for an hour or so on a couple of recent trips, but had back to back dud streaks of over 30 hands without even getting 2 pair so I dumped job in a hurry. Any single line games I tried to go back to smoked me pronto. I hope I can find some similar multi line games at Foxwoods, but will have to watch the paytables closely. I know already they will be lower, but in the short run, it may not matter too much. Luckily, I have put aside the money for fed and state income taxes. That will be a huge hit this year and I will be forced to itemize deductions even though we probably would have just taken the standard deduction. The state will get over 5 percent of the gross winnings. That is so unfair. I don't dare file just using a win loss statement which is what most people do. I know what the rules are and if you do get audited and get the wrong auditor, you have no basis to explain why you used just the win loss statement for reporting purposes. I hate carrying a notebook around and recording everything like their requirements state, but that is the only way you can really protect yourself. What a R O Y A L pain in the ass....no pun intended....heeheehee Edited to add....comp room offers at Mohegan have returned as of a couple of weeks ago, but none on weekends and very few if any on Sunday night. Just hit and miss offers, not 365 like my friend who plays just slots at 3 bucks a shot.

These type of things happen often within the casino industry. The hosts normally move around from casino to casino, and to gain a competitive edge, they will take clientele information of high rollers with them, how ever much information they can get. Other casinos will buy the information through offering a bigger compensation package to the person knows of these viable players and feel they can entice them to play at their casino.

Of course the casino does not want their own employees to take information of their clientele of players to a different casino.

I suspect someone that used to be with Mohegan Sun got ahold of your information before moving on to Foxwoods. Since you've played at Foxwoods in the past, they'd likely have matching information and gave you a competitive offer to get you to go back to Foxwoods.

Sometimes if you build great rapport with your casino host, he/she may find greater rewards for you down the line.

Sorry about the repeated busts. I can't get beans all in for five dollars a hand. Maybe a flush; a full house if they are generous! Your $62 per hour loss is slightly better than normal on dollar machines. Eight hours do smooth out the $100/hr loss segments with $20/hr loss segments. That's how I imagine it goes. It might be interesting to note the hourly bankroll levels for reference. You already have the notebook!

The pot shot thing is worth a try as long as it's limited to a very small percentage of your bets.   You get hot for a while, then nothing.   Last year I hit three $1,000 quad deuces three weeks in a row with $20 bucks in the machine.  Now, it seems I can't hit a straight on the $5 machines.  They probably turned off the "win" switch in the main office.  Even if nothing happens,  I think the excitement alone is worth it.

Playing decent before the bottom dropped out! The excitement of thinking that this could be my $125 quad hand or even a SF/RF is really worth it. Amusement park roller coaster ride is $10. I limit daily rides to one. Four shots tops a session should be my limit.

Yes is can be a dull day without a few pot shots. I think I will go back to them especially with this cold cycle settling back in. For me I think two tries per machine at 5 bucks a try on the 4 machines I play is enough to keep a temporary upbeat mode. My cute waitresses, pineapple Martinis, and favorite craft beers just aren't doing it for the moment. I think I need that bunch of gals from the club on little black dress night stop by again and ask me how to play vp. I had a ball last time and the only time they did that. They know where I hang out at the certain DDS machine about 2 in the morning. At least they have waved when staggering by after the club gets out on Friday night. I know what will happen...They will stop by for a cappuccino on me like before and the Mrs. will be stopping by at the same time. That will put the cabash on that in a hurry.

I don't know about you but sometimes I don't even bother to use a player's card, the benefits are minimal around these parts so sometimes I like to play without it. Funny thing is I've hit very few handpays without the card in the machine, sometimes I feel like they feel sorry for me when my cards in by seeing how much I am losing and let me hit something. As far as taxes go you better keep a book anyway to keep up with your play, won/loss statements aren't that widely accepted by the tax folk.
