the cost of gambling has most definitely risen over the past few years.

I/m/o, before the recession/overbuilding/reduced payouts and comps, gambling trips were a pretty good value. if one was careful with their money, took advantage of all the freebees they could get, one could get a lot for their money. not so much anymore.

You are right. It used to be the perfect getaway and at one point I had offers of $1,000 Freeplay, $1,000 resort credit, and a penthouse suite and now it's 8th floor, $100 day FB and $250 FP plus they've reduced the paytables. I didn't mind losing when the perks exceeded the gambling costs but I got too spoiled. I never quite understood why we got so much but then we were regulars for over 7 years, gambled almost exclusively there and the comps just kept getting better & better. My host said they've reduced the comps to focus on conventioneers but I'm not sure I buy that.

Larry, it seems every time I say I'm done with Vegas some family member decides they want to go. I think Mandalay Bay might be paying them to entice us. 😳

Been quite a while since I've been to Vegas. Its been at least 5+ years since we were there (flight costs) and played/stayed at Red Rock. While we miss the 100% return VP the costs of flights/stays/gambling bankroll for 3-4 days, with the same amount we can make multiple trips to Coushatta and have 98-99% return VP and be 2 1/2 hours from home. Plus with our weekly free play and 10¢/point cash back why go to Vegas. Ah yes, because we miss the lights, the 24/7 energy, the chaos, the heat, the traffic.... gosh darn I'm getting old.

Went to Coushatta last night and had a 6 machine bank of 50/100 play machines to myself for 4-5 hours. Hey, even the head slot tech Trey came by to check on me. And Gabe brought 4 bottles of water as soon as I sat down. Gosh we love our "Time Share".

Gabe brought 4 bottles of water as soon as I sat down.-------------------------------------------------------------------------This is an excellent strategy! Built in bathroom break an hour or so in, win or lose! Gets you the hell off a loser and retain profits on a winner. Brilliant. I will get a beer with a water next session so I can bounce and be on my merry way.

In my case, a half hour or so in..... Beer and water sounds good to me too. I always have 2 waters at my post, but haven't thought of getting them with the beer. That will stop me from feeding green into the shredder and allow a fresh approach once you get away from that mesmerizing screen. None of us are supposed to sit without standing and or walking around for more than an hour at most and I am guilty as sin sometimes for ignoring proven advice like that.

Just started today, played 11 games, or 5500 bets on the monthly game. Mostly super double double, but I sprayed it around. Average score is 431 out of 500. I got smoked pretty good for my initial foray. Did anybody ever suggest to the owners to change the format somewhat? I feel like I'm walking into a casino of 1 machine!!! Weird. Thank about it. If anybody knows these folks point them to this suggestion that they make the site more "casino like". Picture this; a site where the same games prevail, but if you don't like the machine your playing, there is a bank available with 12 seats. Choose another machine and continue your session. Also, the other seats can have gamblers, er, players in them, like a caricature of a person, depicting the current level of players at that moment. You know, at 2 am maybe no one is playing, so one can have their pick of machines. I don't know, 7 pm? The seats are full so your stuck with what you have, or quit for later. Anybody can play at any time, but there is this OPTION available. What a COOL IDEA! Right! Pass it on to the decision makers!!!

Keeps me hydrated and going....perhaps the healthiest thing I do when gambling. But, you are right, the breaks are often needed to break up a bad timing sequence plus helps the back and legs. I've had a lot of winners after taking a break and regained my focus. Since I play with strategies to alter my timing to increase hits, its important to keep good mental focus.
