Re: Both Ct casinos give me a year end treat
I'm just looking to exceed one RF per year. Not much chance on <1000 hands per trip. SMH.
The bummer part is the darn State of Ct will get over 5 percent right off the top on 40 hand pays. Boy is that a bummer.
I know you like to hit big jackpots, but considering how much you play wouldn't you be better off playing smaller so you wouldn't have to pay the 5%? If you count the house edge, the state's edge and errors, you are probably playing VP at 90% or less. Does your state tax all gambling or just slots?

Ct income tax is based on Fed AGI. Thus you have no benefit like on your federal return to offset gambling winnings with losses when you itemize your return. They don't tax gambling at 5 percent as such, but the front page of the fed return has the line for gambling winnings. That would be gross winnings. For most is not all of us, this can be offset by itemizing our returns and taking the losses off of the gross up to the gross amount won. I have yet to meet a vp player who plays a million or more hands a year that has been ahead at the end of the year. This year I came pretty close percentage wise as posted already.
