Re: Latest trip to Biloxi
I have no doubt, that over time, the casino's win. For me, the key has been to time things so that the loss is minimized. Last weekend, I lost $500. But, the weekend before, I was up $700.
BUT - I had 2 free nights, 3 free meals - and a lot of stress reduction in the form of exercise and chatting up different people along the way. I haven't settled in a way to evaluate the room and meal comps because if I'd been home - the cost to sleep at home is not a cost at all in my mind. And the cost of food at home is a fraction of what it would be if I had to pay for that meal outside the house.
I just look at the buffets as $5 meal because that's about how much money it would cost me to reproduce it - aside from the seafood.
It's just not money I would spend on myself. Yet, for some reason, I don't think twice about losing $500 bucks because I feel like I'll either get it back, or I'm ahead so far.
Crazy how those marketers twist our brains into rationalizing what most would consider to be foolish decisions.

If you consider playing video poker strictly on a profit vs. loss basis, you will be disappointed. There is a cost to every recreational activity and video poker is no different. Satisfaction is feeling that the enjoyment you gain from playing the game is worth the cost.
