How does someone get stars, why no additional benefit for pro users

You get stars by accumulating achievements. Four achievements gets you a star.

It's easier to get stars when you first start playing because all possible "star categories" are available. Once you've achieved a star (for example, Top 100 in XYZ) you don't get another star the next time you do that. It does recognize your achievements by counting the number of times on the badge, but you don't get another star for the same achievements.
