Quick question. As of right now (11:30 AM, EST), the top single session score for the week is 84,330. But the top total cumulative score is 38,505.
why wouldn't the top cumulative score be as high (or higher) than the top single score?

Correct. "Current score to beat" in the cumulative refers to the 100th place cumulative score which determines entry into the Peanut Gallery.
