Jacksonville Casino?

Taking a trip to Jacksonville, FL for a few days and was wondering what is the closest casino?  Any recommendations on where to find some good VP in area? thanks

Tampa may be closest, Seminole Hard Rock Tampa, but their VP payout tables not very good. I do reccomend their buffet.Ed

In general, Florida = crappy VP pay tables. Hard Rock Tampa would be quite a drive from Jacksonville, also. They used to have some small,single- day gaming cruises, but I am not sure if they even exist anymore

I think they have a boat that goes out,not sure of vp paytables. I would look on vpfree2.

You might wish to check out http://www.worldcasinodirectory.com/florida that lists 36 Florida casinos including Mayport in the Jacksonville area. This site has links to Map of Florida Casinos and casino list. Before traveling any distance you probably would first wish to learn whether it is a casino, horse track, racino, casino cruise or jai alai! We took a few SunCruz casino boat day trips from Canaveral and Daytona, a few years ago. At that time, the VP machines were not the newest on the market. If you are not prone to sea sickness, taking a cruise in inclement weather gives you more elbow room as in access to machines you prefer! Many peeps would cancel their sailing plans if the weather report is iffy or worse. Further, some on board may be on the floor, as we witnessed, too sick to gamble. You learn to step over or around them! There is much info on the net, but conflicting about which are still in existence or have been replaced or in chapter 11. Jacks or Better might be the current name of a gambling ship at Mayport.

Some refer to Florida as a state of confusion for many reasons. For one: Cape Canaveral became Cape Kennedy from 1963-1973 and reverted back to Cape Canaveral. You will see either name in books and maps and might wonder about this aspect. Same place and Kennedy Space Center is in that area.

No wonder I always miss it when I drive that way.
