what you are worth to a casino

i have been a diamond member at CET for a number of years. normally around the 25k tier credits. i have no aspirations of ever hitting 7*. closest (only) casino to me is cherokee. diamond is enough to get free slot play and rooms most nights. just found out about ' $100 celebration', that i never knew about was only available till end of march. wife likes eating at good places, so she asked me to see if room at cherokee this friday or sat night. i called and they said no comp was available, so i checked online. there are rooms available, but not comp for me. cost= $509 each nite, unbelieveable!   little background, cherokee is a busy casino, because it is the only game for 4 different states. so, rooms are available, but they have determined a twenty five cent VP player would need to pay hundreds of dollars extra for a room to make up the expected loss from a 7* or maybe a comparable slot player, at my level.  does anyone read it differently? i am not mad about it, just puts my value in perspective.

I am also a diamond for many years. I get lots of free rooms but the weekend can be harder to get. If I book early like a month ahead I can get weekends, but if I wait to try and book less than a week before it is hit and miss whether   or not I can get a room.

As a casino fills up they save the rooms for either 7 star or desperate gamblers willing to pay crazy prices.

here is why i find this interesting and bothered to post it. we all know the casinos track everything we do on their property. they know what we play, our past w/l history and have a very good idea what you are likely to lose. by them putting a $500 price tag on the room for me, that tells me, that they would expect to make an additional $500 or more, from the person, that they are willing to comp the room for.  it is not news that they base their comps/free play on past history, but this is the first time i could actually see the expected difference that anticipate receiving from one player to another.

I was a 7* but Harrahs shut down in this area and the other two Caesars owned properties are Horseshoe and Roadhouse, I don't like either place. I still get offers to fly me to different locations all the time. The Laughlin, Nv. host called me last week and offered to fly me out and put me up for four days next month I believe, may take her up on that offer. Yesterday I got an offer to go to Atlantic City for 4 or 5 days in early May, might accept that also, never been there. In late May I'll be heading to Reno and Lake Tahoe on Harrahs dime. Funny thing is I doubt I'm even a Diamond player anymore because like I said I rarely play at the only two Caesars owned properties here. My guess is they're going on my past history, in 2014 I went 6 months without even walking into a casino.

Yeah pretty much. Cherokee is a huge draw with not much hotel space. Hopefully they build a bigger hotel in Murphy.

 they have 1100 rooms. i should state they offered me an offsite hotel room.

I can only speak for what I get for Vegas with very little play at Gold level, I get free 3 night weekday room offers sent to me everyday with a gift or $30/40 dollar free play or a slot tournament entry. I do not think there are that many 7star status members. Even Diamond level tier had guaranteed reservations as well as free upgrade if available.

Would CET be willing to fly you and your wife to Laughlin or Reno, I know Phil played the cheap system at Cherokee and got offers to go to Reno. I have not been in Diamond for two or three years after that big loss. I know I got offers to go to other TR locations outside of Vegas but I never accepted it.

alpax, thanks for the suggestions! i have many, many offers for free plane rides, hotels, free play in other parts of the country. tunica, biloxi, AC are hurting for business, so they will do most anything to get folks to drop money at their place. also, have lots of free offers for vegas. even though cherokee has 1100 rooms, it is a destination casino, out in the middle of nowhere, so most who go there, need to stay overnight. they give me a room most nights. i did a poor job of explaining the reason for my post. it was to illustrate an absolute dollar value of one type of gambler over another, and the expected return the casino would anticipate getting. so, as a less favored gambler, they would want me to pay an extra $500 for the room, to make up the difference. not a surprise, i had just not seen it defined so clearly.

Understandable with the given circumstances if they are the only place to play in the vicinity of 4 states. It must show how high the demand is if it costs $500 a night even after a 15 or 20% discount. They must have prioritized player's theoretical loss to come up with that value.

It takes a lot of losing to even get to Diamond status so the rooms at Vegas were comp'ed for weekends, but it is not reasonable to compare somewhere with several thousand rooms and Cherokee.

I usually prefer to play during weekdays if possible anywhere, weekends are fierce at most places.
