There's a casino going east going toward Beaux Bridge not using the Interstate.

Chrome,
If you're going to be in Lafayette then I"d recommend driving an hour or so to Coushatta in Kinder, La. This is our home casino. The VP offerings are incredible as are the facilities. Coushatta is La. largest casino and has the best VP offerings that we've found. Almost all of the machines are pay return 98% or better. You'll have to check the individual machines. For example, the 50-100 play machines are all listed at around 98.8%-99% from 2¢ up to $1. DDB 9/6; DW 15/9/4/4; DWB 13/4; TDB 9/6. These table are also available on the 25¢ All Star Machines (4). If you head that way let me know we might be able to meet up if you're interested.
A second option is to drive down I-10 to Lake Charles and see the new Golden Nugget (lousy VP) but gorgeous and L'Auberge du Lac decent high denom. VP.
PS: If you go to Coushatta, Speed Traps are located on the road from I-10 to Kinder in Fenton (always)-usually across from the cemetery and be careful in Kinder as you come over the overpass (goes from 50 to 40 MPH)
