Because of the way things worked out, I stayed two nights in each of the hotels.  Rooms were similar, but I'd say I prefer Harrahs.  Just to be close to the VP that I was playing, and it had the buffet and cafe.  I went back and forth in the tunnel quite often, and I loved those retro video games that they had.  I also saw the improv at harveys and checked out the peek nightclub.I'm going back in early May for the Sammy Hagar weekend.  I did get halfway to 7-stars so I want to finish it off.   I can see myself going 1-2 times in the winter to ski.   Plus you get the 4 lift tickets per year which is a nice perk.Other than skiing and playing craps at mountblu, I didn't leave the hotel at hotel.  This upcoming trip I hope to check out the area some more.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Also, since you get most of your points in Lake Tahoe, is that considered your "home casino"?  Did you need your lake tahoe host to process your 7-stars approval? Thanks

This summer we are for sure going to the celebrity golf event in mid July. We went a couple of years ago and really enjoyed. This year they are having Carrie Underwood one night and Zak Brown another night for their featured entertainment. The only downside of this event is that it is extremely crowded. Additionally our casino host gets us free passes to the golf event and we are able to walk around the course and mingle with the celebrities. They also have a viewing area set up at the par 3 17th hole ( the one along the shore of Lake Tahoe). At both the tee box and the green, the viewing area has elevated seating plus food and beverages.

The skybox at #17 green is where I ran into (literally) Jessica Simpson one year. She was dating Tony Romo at the time, who was playing in the tournament. I was in the skybox, and saw where security roped off the front row, and I figured that I didn't need whatever fuss that was about to arrive. I walked down to get some food, and saw my host. He looked like he was looking at me, so I called out and waved. He said "I'll be right with you, Bill". So I turned around, and ran smack into Jessica, who my host was actually looking at. Instinctively, I put my hands out as we were about to collide, and of course, got her right in the boobs . I appologized, and she just laughed.

In May a lot is going to depend on the weather. We have been there on Memorial Day before when it snowed. If I were you and have never done it before I would do a trip to the west side of the lake. If you do not have a rent car they have a trolley that will get you there. The drive to Emerald Bay is one of the most scenic drives anywhere. In May the falls should be flowing. There is also Beacon Bar and Grill in the vicinity which has stuff going on year round. In the area is also Baldwin's Beach and the Valhalla Tallac area. If you park at or get off the trolley at Taylor's Creek you can walk to most of these places. There is also a interpretive nature area nearby with salmon and other small wildlife.

There are hiking trails everywhere including directly behind Harrah's. If you like to golf there is Edgewood Golf Course behind Harvey's. Once a week they have a bus that takes people on an all day trip to Yosemite. If you have a car it is about 4 hours each way. Depending on the weather it may be difficult to get to Yosemite in early May.

In the summer, once you reach 7 star you get a free trip for two on the Tahoe Star which is the private yacht that used to be owned by Bill Harrah. The boat ride is approx. two hours and takes you to Emerald Bay and back. At your level of play you should have no problem getting comped tickets to the outdoor concerts. They are spectacular.

Our home property goes back and forth between Bossier City, La. and Tahoe. We normally process our 7 star trips ourselves. Not saying that the casino hosts are lazy (but some of them are), we prefer staying on top of the process and dealing directly with the place we are going to. Seems we get better results this way.

BTW, where did you enjoy gambling the most. Harrah's or Harvey's?

Enjoyed your Tony Romo / Jessica Simpson story. One of Tony's other former girlfriends, Carrie Underwood, is providing the entertainment at this years golf tournament.

When we went two years ago, Tony Romo was favored to win. He went into the last day behind by only 1 point. Towards the end of the day, as only Tony Romo can do, he began to choke big time. I forget how far back he finished but it wasn't close.

He golfs the way he quarterbacks. Tons of stats and skills but in the end whether it is just bad luck or for whatever the reason, he never wins. Him and Jerry Jones deserve each other.

I gambled exclusively at Harrahs.  I like the 9/6 multi-line JOB.  The Diamond Lounge was also nice.  What do you think about the spa?  I was thinking of taking the gf next month and letting her enjoy it.  I'm also thinking about spending a little time in Reno, although it seems like a totally different scene.

We have never done the spa. Having done the Qua Spa at Caesar's Vegas, I am afraid we would be disappointed. Once you get to 7 star go to Vegas, stay at Caesar's and do the Qua Spa. It is awesome.

There are like 4 separate spas set to different temperatures. They also have several dry saunas and wet saunas. They even have what they call an arctic sauna where they literally have snowflakes falling inside. Best of all it is free for 7 stars and a guest. It is a definite must if you have any interest in going to Vegas.

You may want to give the VP at Harvey's a try on your next trip. They have some machines in their high limit room similar to those that you played at Harrah's. You can go back and forth if you wish and it still counts towards your daily tier score bonuses.

You may want to try the Diamond Lounge at Harvey's as well. It is normally only open on the weekend but the food is a little better and is pretty high up so it gives you a great view of Lake Tahoe.

Speaking of views, when you go back next month with gf, take her to 19th Kitchen at Harvey's. Its the best of the three steakhouses there IMO. In addition to a spectacular view, they have great steaks and their Chilean Bass is the best I have had anywhere.

BTW, are you close enough to drive to Lake Tahoe, or do you have to fly in like we do?

I am with you on that, CC.I have yet to find a nicer spa. Love the Roman Baths for a nice, tranquil nap. That is one reason that I always stay in the Augustus Tower at Caesars LV. I just jump on the elevator and I am in the Spa...

I take the nonstop from Chicago to Reno - then rent a car.Quick question about 7-Star status.  I do most of my gambling at local casinos (or tahoe) which have good VP.  I don't do a lot of gambling in Vegas since downgraded their VP - just some table games, so I've never received great comps in Vegas.  Will 7-stars give me an automatic free room in vegas?  Or will my Vegas play need to justify it?Thanks
