Thanks Ted, I appreciate that you have followed my action at the local casino. I personally held off on a decent win because I did not want to take attention away from what olds did.

I posted it eventually

Thanks Ted, I just noticed something. I got the exact dealt straight flush as Vman on the Tunica trip report.

3 to 7 in spades. How ironic is that?

Fairly. Glad you had a nice multiline wager for it.

And not surprised to hear the death of the STP Mega Progressive. When paytables really go in the dumper, people will really begin to feel the losses after awhile. I didn't think it's a bad idea with an 8/5 DDB paytable and similar, but they were greedy jerks.

And I'm shocked at that quarter progressive, too bad you couldn't hit it! I have only seen one bigger in my life ($4810.72 at Luxor with a 0.9% meter, iirc), but I never expect to see it again. Even with a 1% meter, a $4500+ royal is rare. About 1 in 1100 with no strategy adjustments if people always max bet. Actual odds vary somewhat due to player behavior though. I can probably count the times I've seen quarter progressives over $2k on one hand in the past 5 years.

Thanks Vman for reading through the disappointing news. I still think more highly of this place than Vegas strip casinos despite the changes.

On the multiline run, I was expecting to get at least a good amount of 2 pairs and 3 of a kinds and maybe a quad/flush/full boat, but I got fortunate enough to get more than I've bargained for. It was a decent session for the day, so I was not playing that to catch up on the points. The Jacks or Better is clearly the best option for it and it is flexible to adjust 3/5/10 Play and 25c/50c/$1. I have strongly leaned towards 5 play quarters over single line dollar in the past, but I preferred to stay in the non-smoking section where they have a few of those Game Kings there.

I could not find much online about the Mega Progressive with regards to which casinos that have it outside of the Golden Nuggets and this place. It never got really big on the gambling forums where search engine web crawlers would explore. IGT has been planning this ahead of time for a few years but it flopped in just a few months. To go on a royal less streak, a player's return will be lower than 92% coin in, they will feel the losses hurt their confidence/bankroll quickly.

Mr. Dancer had already done an analysis of it and gave his opinion on his radio show GWAE that it was not worth playing no matter how high the jackpot got. You were able to think the same the whole way through. IGT and other slot manufacturers require the casino to pay up a daily fee to keep a machine running on the casino on top of the revenue the casinos goes back to the state. From that, it was a business decision.

Now people are playing those games on the bank for nickels. It was hard to grab a seat on the new games, I'll try to post more details on the next possible update.

I was unfortunately not mentally prepared during the visit to chase after the progressive. I was done with my playing session (got my points, did bad for the day and had little left to play with). At the end I wanted to see if all the bartops got replaced (I did not check if the progressives are still there last week). Prior to this, the highest I've ever seen a royal was just $1700 on a 9/5 DDB bank at the M Resort.

If it is still there, this one has

7/5 Bonus Poker
9/5 DDB
9/6/5 DB
8/5 Jacks or Better
20/12/10 Fooler Deuces
Atlantic City 2 Pair Joker Poker I recall was not attached to the progressive

The $1 denomination was at $5600, so it was not over 100%. From your experiences, I do not expect the progressives to reach not nearly as high. If I do see it at $2500 (I do not expect it to), I will call an audible and go for it for a few hours.

Things have remained the same at this casino for the most part. I have some updates to share as it has been awhile. This year has not gone too well to begin with and I had fewer opportunities to play for personal reasons.

New Casino Logo

Upon completion of the Phase 1 Expansion (the parking system), the casino has changed their logo and slogan.

The bigger changes (new hotel tower with new pool area and restaurants) are still yet to come, but I do not think they'll hit the estimated target date of completion by the end of the year. Cannot wait to see how it will turn out.

A Decent Potshot At Last

It took place last week. I made it known that I do like to take some potshots during each visit (I am not inspired by FP to do it), I have been alternating between a single line $5/$10 ($25 on a good day) high denomination or a 5/10-play one. I did have the dealt straight flush on the 5-play the last time around. I played by usual three hours of Jacks or Better and got 3 quads instead of the expected average of 4, so I was at a slightly bigger than usual loss at $440.

Around after each hour of play, I take a short break to walk to the multi-play machines or the high limit room. On the third potshot of the day, I was dealt two suited high cards, held it and drew new cards without expecting much. I heard an unfamiliar sound effect from the machine after one of the hand outcomes.

I could not believe what I saw ...

On that same visit last week, I saw a small group of IGT employees doing maintenance on the bank of specialty games. The games were turned off with a paper attached to the screen. I suspected that the games were going to get replaced, been more than a year since it happened.

The New Specialty Games

I came back this week to check out any possible changes and sure enough, the games have been replaced. I was a bit puzzled by the selection.

Flip and Pay Poker

I took a brief glance at just the DDB game variant since there was someone wanting to play it. Maybe look at more the next time around.

There was nickels, dimes, and quarters available for the denomination.

Nickels and Dimes was set for 10/6 DDB
Quarters was set for 11/6 DDB

I looked at the top screen and did not see the VideoPoker.com logo anywhere, just the IGT logo. It seems like Action Gaming/VideoPoker.com had little or nothing to do with the development of the game. The game on the website had a bunch of issues when it was released online.

Rack 'em Up Poker

This one was a surprising choice. It is not a recently released game from the 2015/2016 Global Gaming Exposition and is seldom talked about here. I was expecting there to be either Magic Deal, Ultimate X Spin Poker/Bonus Streak, or Color Match Royals.

Took this shot from further away since there was always someone playing on it. Since the player has to play 25/50/100 lines, low denomination choices were available.

Combo / Double Combo Draw Poker

This was a pleasant surprise as well. I heard about it from WoO recently, but it is good to finally be able to get a shot at exploring it.

Looking at the top screen, I saw something other than a videopoker.com logo. This one was developed by King Show Gaming, they more known for their video slot games, I suppose this will be their first venture at a video poker game?

Notable differences between Split Card and Combo Draw Poker (a demo is also available as soon as the player inserts credits into the game)

The Bonus Split Card(s) is not an optional feature like the original Split Card game, so there will not be an opportunity for the player to play the standard game. Every 1 credit wager has a mandatory 4 additional credit wager. Although there are multiple hands in the background, this game is actually a single line game for the most part.

The outcome for Split Card Poker is singular and will be based on the best 5 card outcome out of the 6 possible. However, for Combo Draw Poker there is either one or many outcomes. The player starts with a single hand deal, if there is no Split Cards after the draw, the outcome will be nothing more than those 5 cards. If there is 1 Split Card, there will be 6 possible 5 card outcomes in the end with each awarding its prize. If there are 2 Split Cards, it will be 21 possible 5 card outcomes. Hence it will be somewhat logical that the player holds onto the Split Cards despite if the other cards may be good since the player is paying for 5 hands worth each round.

I saw that the paytables were 9/5 for DDB for quarters, half-dollars, and dollars. It was 600 for 1 or 3000 credits for the 5 of a Kind.

The ideal situation of the game is on the screen, if the player gets 2 Split Cards of Ace Pairs, along with 2 more Aces and a Kicker. It will be 6 5 of a Kinds at 3000 Credits and 15 4 Aces with any 2,3,4 at 2000 Credits for a 48000 Credit win. The game has burst potential.

I've decided to give it a shot since I studied the 9/5 DDB strategy recently and have looked into Split Card Poker in the past. The strategy for this game will likely be twisted when there are split cards involved since the top shows you all the possible outcomes.

In the first few minutes, I was able to get a decent 2 split card draw. I was able to convert on multiple quads.

I thought I should play a little longer to get more quads. I quickly felt remorse as the two Split Cards did not appear as often, and sometimes it would be so far apart. I lost the $300+ after hitting the quad hand and then another $200 went in quick. I was not able to hit another quad thereafter.

I felt I should try to at least play for one more good situation before calling it quits as the swings can just be brutal at $6.25 a hand (quarters). I got 2 Split Cards that conveniently resembled 4 to the Royal. As I held those 2 Split Cards, the 21 possible hands light up.

I hit the draw button and got the Ace of Clubs!

It would have been nice to get another high Club card to count for multiple Royal Flushes. I really lucked out this time around. I am not sure if I will try again without knowing how to approach the game. There is no way to practice it. I considered trying out this game to be the "potshot" and I went back to Jacks or Better and was able to get two quads when I doubled down. I was able to leave a winner for back to back weeks, has not happened in a while.

Nice royals! I'm shocked they put "Rack em Up" in. This site stopped tracking its location.
