Taj Mahal is 50/50

Post by DaBurglar »

I have spoken to several friends who I have made who work at the Taj, a security supervicor, a dealer and a slot manager.   They tell me it is "50/50" whether Taj shutters up on November 13....and they are reacting off of what management is telling them.    So it could all be much worse than that.....Either way, I am milking the Taj for everything I can in the next month.  They sent me a crapload of stuff, freeplay (about 800 bucks worth), gift giveaways and free rooms EVERY day of the month of October (7 days a week).I may live in that run down travesty for most of the month, and if I do, I hope some of you will join me......AC with only four boardwaqlk casinos heading into next summer is horrible......and if Taj closes, the steel pier shuts down in all likelihood, which means Resorts is next on the domino line to fall since a huge part of there traffic comes from people hitting the steel pier.   The idiots who run AC just do not understand their own game....when you lose One casino in a market like that, it inevitably affects all.....losing FIVE...??!?!?!    wtf???

I am planning on going to AC next month because of a great offer from Caesars for my recent play at Showboat. It's way too good to pass up. I usually stay that the Taj Mahal when in AC.

I am debating whether to give my host a call for some time in late October, but am worried that (1) he's gone already since hosts, etc, must be jumping ship already and (2) the Taj will fall completely apart over the next month or so and it may actually be unsafe/unsanitary to stay there if the current owners are no longer putting a dime into the place.

here's the scoop....you are right in that parts of the TAJ are totally in bad shape.....but ironically the chairman tower is in SUPERB shape (it is the only part of the place they kept up with repairs and stuff.)So what tier are you?  if you are chairman, then no problem, just stay in the chairman tower and when you get to the lobby to head across to the restaurants or go down to the casino, avoid the elvator in the primary lobby because they shake rattle and roll when they operate.  use the stairs or escalator.I'm going to use as many free days as I can over the next month and a half until november 13, and wait and see if the Taj still exists at that point. But mark my words, if the TAJ closes down, AC will be irreparably harmed unless someone buys and reopens at least one of the boardwalk properties before next busy season.

just when you think it has gone as LOW as it can go........unreal.Ok, now answer me this all you "anti-conspiracy theorists"........why is it hard to conceive a scumbag deadbeat casino company that is unwilling to even pay its electric light bill is "too ethical" to engage in rigging its machines?    If management is that brazen about shirking its obligations and willing to put its guests and employees at risk by having the power all fo a sudden disappear and have people tripping in the dark, TITO machines cease paying tickets, and elevators stop with people in them, what's to stop them from taking their VP games and setting them so that they NEVER deal anything worhtwhile and just gobble people's cash for a few weeks?Clearly current management of Trump is just pocketing revenue and not paying many of its obligations anymore or spending on even the most basic upkeep of the property.   No doubt management is giving itself large monthly "bonuses" instead.I now believe that Nevada casinos would (nor could) really ever engage in any sustained or massive "rigging" of games.......but AC is definitely capable and able.   And it should be obvious as to why and how I feel this, not to mention the fact I feel I already have seen such "rigging" in action in some of the games can casinos I've played, and TRUMP is definitely one of the casinos in this group....many times I played at the Taj and had atrocious results that fell way out of bounds of expected statistical ranges.Anyhow, it says that there is a 30 day period where the power MUST stay on, so since I will be there next week I should be ok?

Maybe it will close earlier then they said ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news ... a8.htmlwow  what a total clusterF.....er, Clusterfornication......This is awful.....who's right?  who's to blame???      I have looked at this situation, spent loads of time in and around this place (well, both TRUMP properties actually) and have gotten to know a number of people at all levels and positions.......No one is "right", and EVERYONE is to blame....I am serious.    This is one of those problems, one of those situations that really requires people from very divergent and varied backgrounds to actually WORK together and agree to sacrifice something for a greater good.    And that is just (apparently) asking too much of people nowadays! The union wont budge (actually they cant budge now, they totally painted themselves into a corner with their "Stance", and now, with their "Sabotaging" the Convention Business by getting the various conventioneers to CANCEL at the Trump Taj, the Union is losing public support and is losing the perceived "moral high ground")   If the Union does not concede, the Taj workers are unemployed....if they do concede then there is a PRECEDENT by which all the other Unionized AC Casino workers at the other casinos can be forced to accept these new terms.  Well done Union Leadership....and how does BLOCKING Traffic at the main artery into AC during rush hour on September 26 help your cause?   Man, if I was someone who needed to get somewhere important, like the hospital, I'd be protesting your protest next time!   But alas, let is not forget the REAL longterm culprits here, Trump's inept management.....for 25 years this casino has been a disaster, even during the halcyon days of Atlantic City;s Success!    Four times Trump has gone bankrupt, repeatedly welching and breaking deals and other travesties.....how was this allowed to continue without making DARN sure that something was done to improve things??!   Why couldnt the Gaming commission do something to stop this never ending saga of failure???   If this organization (Trump Casinos) over the years were an actual gambling customer, they would have been 86'd a long time ago!    Now the latest incarnation, Carl Icahn, is no different.    He has no plan, no clue to make it work....look at what they are talking about......squeezing workers, who make peanuts as it is, out of a few more dollars in health care, plus wanting to take away their paid Lunch break, forgetting for a moment they still need HUNDREDS of MILLIONS more long term in areas like Tax breaks, Fee reductions, and other large scale developments.      NO WHERE have I heard anyone talking about HOW they will attract more customers, make themselves more desirable for GAMBLERS, how they will increase REVENUE/Business in general!!     Anyone else find that troubling???How about this:  who here thinks that, even if the Taj Management gets all that they want.....in a years time, maybe 18 months, wont they be forced to shut down anyway UNLESS something huge is done to attract consistently more gamblers?!?????

My take on this is that Taj is done. People are fleeing this place. Down 22.9% in Sept. Icahn wants too much from tax cuts and breaking union contracts. How about some concessions from him? Maybe cutting some executive perks or stop paying Donald for his name? Trump says he wants his name off anyway, so stop paying him, lol.
There is a silver lining to this cloud. Pokerstars is close to getting a license in NJ. I could see them rescue the property and become a hit in AC.
