Tram Tax

Post by FAA »

A boardwalk tram passed in front of Caesars as I left today. I flagged it down for a $2 ride to Tropicana. The collector said $2.18. Driver chimed in that as of Friday, tax is required. Collector: "You know AC is broke." Yes, but this absurd inconvenience hardly balances the books. To add insult to injury, he never gave me seven cents change from my quarter. I insisted, since we're all about grabbing everything we can.

on top of reduced tax receipts from lower gaming revenues, i believe the city has lost a series of court cases from casinos, due to their tax valuations. the city's tax income is down, but those bloated government pensions/heathcare, must still be paid.  not complaining, i am sure the politicans had a positive vibe, when they bought the union's votes.

Yes, all relevant and accurate. This frivolous tax sure flew under the radar! Had not heard or read a word about it. It would make me laugh if I didn't have to pay it. Truth is stranger than fiction. It's not like the FAA regulating an airline tax. We're talking about trams.

Well that seals it for me, that .18c is the tipping point, I'm never going to ride the tram again. Thanks for the heads up Frank.

Huh? FAA. Anyway, nobody's deal breaker, but it is a somewhat bizarre idea. Tx for missing the point and your snarky marina input, though!

The clock is ticking. The state will take over AC's finances any day now.

The clock is ticking. The state will take over AC's finances any day now. If anyone i sstill wondering exactly "where" all that tax revenue collected from the mid 1980s through 2005 from ACs booming (then) casino industry, remember, MOST of that went into New jersey's coffers (not the city of AC itself), and was subsequently spent in all the parts of the state with clout (i.e. NOT in south Jersey).   Its that simple. Now they want to totally abandon AC by moving casinos to the Norther portion of the state......talk about cold harsh reality.

Can this website enact a word usage tax? Posts up to 65 words are tax free, posts 66 to 125 words would be taxed at .09% of annual membership charge; 126 to 190 words would be .12% of annual membership charge; posts exceeding 191 words would be capped at .18% of annual membership charge. Just a thought...
