NBA wokeness

there aren't many non political organizations that have embroiled themselves in politics, so called social justice, race relations, political correctness more than the NBA. the NBA has also aligned itself with the country of china, much of it's venue comes from china. soooo much of it's money derives from china, that NBA associates are not allowed to speak against the communist country and it's untold number of human rights abuses. in other words, for all the talk of 'justice', MONEY talks. this from a small group of players that according to cnbc.com, average $7.7 million per year in salary. my guess is this would be the single highest paid group of 'employees' in america.

what has this gotten them. the just completed NBA playoffs just finished, with what i believe were some of the lowest ratings in their history. people want to be entertained, not lectured. and, the last thing folks want is to be lectured by some over paid athletes, who will shortly be bankrupt or owners who have more allegiance to china than the usa.

for some real entertainment listen to MEAGAN KELLY rips mark cuban a new a$$hole, during an interview. he would not call out chinese human rights violations and looked like a paid stooge for the chinese government.

now, as far as i am concerned, the NBA could go bust, and wouldn't bother me at all. but, how i feel is not the point. what could be interesting is whether this same attitude of wokeness, political correctness, race baiting, america is evil, all whites are racists, socialism is better, might just be getting 'old' throughout the rest of society. how often can the same groups pull this stuff out of their 'bag of tricks', and get it to work.

it certainly didn't work for the NBA. they have already announced next year will see much less politics and social justice tossed in your face, just for watching a bunch of millionaires play a game.

That must be it. It doesn't matter that the NBA playoffs were competing against both the NFL and the MLB playoffs for ratings, instead of having the market all to themselves in May and June like they usually do.
Lets forget about the much stronger than normal competition . Lower ratings must be because the employees are speaking up. I mean just look how strong the NHL ratings were for their playoffs. Oh wait, the NHL playoff ratings were down the drain ,as well. Evidently people are sick of white players, as well.
Games with uppitty blacks who dare to speak their minds equals low ratings. Games with white players who tow the company line equals low ratings. Could it be that in the middle of a pandemic that is getting worse by the week, more Americans simply don't care about circuses, or might the current economic conditions possibly mean more people no longer can afford cable tv?
Even the ratings for the Yankees were down last week. Must be Antifa's fault.

I know this may be controversial, but maybe it's a little of all of these things. I certainly don't think the political environment is helping the NBA's ratings, and multi-sport playoffs is absolutely a drain.

But personally, I think the NBA has been going downhill for years, mainly on account of them lowering the hoops. When I was growing up, I remember looking up at that hoop way above my head and out of reach and knowing it was an accomplishment to make a basket. Now these guys barely even jump and their hands are above the rims. So you just reach up and drop a ball into the hoop? How is that even a sport? Make Basketball Great Again!

Seriously. I mean they don't even use real baskets anymore.
I attended first grade at a Catholic school on 22nd St in Manhatten. For gym or maybe it was recess, they would line us and let us take a free throw. I doubt it was from the free throw line, more likely it was much closer but it still seemed an impossible distance away. Out of the thirty or so kids in the class, perhaps two would actually make a shot. What I remember is that girls would shot the ball underhand, like Wilt did, while boys shot the way the rest of the players did.
Those nuns really had us brainwashed. The reward for making a basket was we got to stay behind and erase the chalkboards and then bang the erasers together.

if the lecturing about race relations and political correctness are not the reason, then why has the NBA president already announced next year would be much different? the fans would not see as much of this horses$it.

and, how does one justify that mark cuban and the NBA, cannot seem to denounce China for it's long and ongoing history of human rights abuses? all the while, the owners support lecturing america about it's past and ongoing problems.

and, if the NHL has the same policy of shoving race relations and politics in their fans face, just for watching a game, then i would guess their mainly white fans, would make the mainly white players and mainly white owners pay a financial price.

in the meantime, be assured that those lower tv ratings will eventually be reflected in lower player salaries. and, those two faced, all i really care about is the money players/owners, will surely get off their high positions. and, when americans realize that the entire league is more beholden to china than the usa, support will continue to drop.

China does pose a predicament when you want to do business there. Some companies have navigated that better than others. I think you are right that the NBA has not at this point... I'm guessing they don't feel they have the leverage that a business like Apple does. Even those mega companies struggle with the balance between human rights, doing business, respecting culture, blah blah blah.

Ultimately, they are there to make money. Hopefully they can make some lives better in the process.

I'm not sure it's the NBA or Apple's job to solve China's human rights problems. But being unable to even speak to them... I would have a hard time with that being in that position.

Politics has no place in sports!!
As stated, people go to be entertained (unless your a Lions fan).
MLB playoffs seems to have largely stayed on course.
The NFL not so much and they have suffered rating wise as well.
The NBA has turned into nothing but a freak show with very minimal following. No loss there.

Most people put the US Hockey teams victory over the Soviets as one of the top Olympic moments, but keep telling yourself politics should be kept separate from sports.

The NBA scheduled its playoff games against both the NFL and Major League Baseball, but BLM banners are to blame for the decline in ratings.
Meanwhile, the WNBA is more militant in the cause of Social Justice and their rating went up this year.
