Why is Ultimate X so popular?

Why do you play video poker? What is your favorite game and why?

Thanks for the info Bob.
That compromise strategy available for Triple and Five available anywhere?
My wife is sporadically addicted to it.

Thanks for all the ult x observations everyone. I think I am going to try for the next week to play 500 hands of three hand ult x each day and see how I do. I will also try to do 500 hands of strait up three hand poker so I can compare the two. Should be easy to track.
Day one results: Three Play Poker Loss 100 credits
Ult x Poker Loss 1050 credits

Did 500 hands of both therefore 1500 total games both. Cost of ult x is twice as high as Triple play so I am going to factor in playing ult x at quarter level and TPP at fifty cent level. Playing Ult x I would have lost a little over $260. Playing TPP I would have lost $50.

I had four 4oak's playing TPP. Only one premium but no kickers. I had only two 4oak's playing ult x but one was four aces but no kicker. On both 4oak's I did not hit with multiplier. Again as fate would have it, I whiffed on almost every 8, 10, or 12x multiplier which is why my session was so bad. In both set of games nothing big dealt on bottom hand. Although on one of my ult x hands I was dealt a full house. Next hand I was dealt garbage and was unable to take advantage.

One final point, the only thing I did differently strategy wise was when I was playing ult x I kept all sets of
two pairs including when aces was one of the pairs. I know there are probably quite a few other strategy differences and would welcome anyone chiming in on what they do different strategy wise playing triple play ult x.

Oh man, if that's the only strategy change you are making you are going to get crushed by UX. Try the trainer on this site, you are in for a shock.

I would bet that in just 15 minutes of the vp pro trainer on this game you will easily learn enough make up the $15 cost, if you plan to play this game in the casino. Probably you'll save that much in your first 15 minutes of casino play.

I knew there were strategy changes but I couldn't believe how badly I was playing. I'm not talking about trying to play 100% perfect which is probably impossible. I mean the huge size of the errors I was making. Most of them come on holds with not many multipliers. You really need to be playing most of those to earn future multipliers. The value of those outweighs the immediate payout a lot more than I thought.

This is a pot shot game for me in a casino so I haven't played it a ton. But I now feel foolish for how I did play it. I'll enjoy it a lot more next time.

Eduardo, I did the one week free trial on the pro trainer and I was kind of overwhelmed by the difference in strategy between regular VP and both ult x and quick quads. I guess I need to go ahead and get a subscription to the pro trainer. I have been debating it. The only reason I have not already done so is the fear of developing bad habits when playing regular triple or five play VP where I have played and practiced enough to have the strategies down. I have played a little ult x at the casino with no luck. I have played quite a bit more on this website and even though the paytables are better here, like you say, I am still getting crushed.

I play a lot of ultimate x in the casinos and have done well. Just play nickels, but 10 hands. Look for those multipliers for sure. Have hit a few royals. Have to keep your two pair to work for the full house. Getting four aces with a kicker on a 12 multiplier is nice. Have had enough good runs to keep going back. I get bored with any single hand play anymore.

I just crossed off one of my bucket list hands last night at Gun Lake Casino in Michigan. I held 3 to the royal and hit the Royal w/ a 10x multiplier. Playing dimes. I hit an 8x multiplier Royal on Quarters last year in Cleveland.

Ultimate X is a great game, high Risk High reward. I only play TDB.

Glad to hear many are having luck with ult x. I lost interest in daily tracking of three handed regular VP versus ult x. I did two more days, won't bore you with details but I did even worse on ult x versus regular 3 hand VP than the first day where I showed comparisons. I welcome any strategy tips and comment s from others but until I can figure ult x out I will not be playing any more at the casino. I think I will stick with Deal Draw as my high volatility go to game when I am in the mood to take pot shots at the casino. At least with Deal Draw I can use the exact same strategy as standard VP. I love that game even though at the moment I am probably an overall net loser at Deal Draw.

Personally, I have found ultimate x very disappointing. A real money eater. I avoid it now. I much prefer Super Times Pay and Hot Roll where you use regular strategy.

It has definitely been a money eater for me as well. Other than always holding two pairs if you are playing DDB what other major strategy differences do those of you that have been successful playing ult x employ?

Congrats on your bucket list achievement and your success playing ult x as well as your first post on here. What do you do strategically that differs from regular poker when you are playing ult x? You must be doing something different to account for the success?
