Bob Dancer has many excellent qualities. But I, personally, would not waste my wit or sarcasm on him.

This, by the way, is not unusual with many math or science-oriented people. During my career I worked with some extremely intelligent research types. They rarely got the joke. They were easy to prank.

Bob is very, very bright. No criticism intended, but in my opinion, perhaps he sometimes takes things too literally.

Agreed. I think he did in this case imo.

Strange turn to this thread.

I regularly perform with an Improv group (which is a style of think-fast-on-your-feet comedy). Next performance is January 18. Richard Munchkin also performs with that group. See www.lvimprov.com for details. The serious egghead described in the last few posts would not be able to function well in an Improv group.

Yes I took Chicagoan at his word (the second time) when he said he made it all up. Some of you thought he was being sarcastic the second time. How are you so sure that you're right and I'm wrong?

I wrote the original post because it was an amazing thing that happened to me in the casino. Probably the most amazing occurrence ever in about 8 years of playing video poker. I wanted to share it.

Once I read Bob Dancer's column, with its references to multiple legal violations, I thought it would be funny to post an "I'm scared" response. From what I can tell, most of the posters on this forum got it. To those who did not, my apologies. I do not appreciate being called a liar, but we are all anonymous screen names here so it's not worth getting upset about it.

As a side note, I have since mentioned the incident to a slot shift manager at a different casino. His take is that there was no intent on my part to cheat the machine, so it is the casino's loss. He said his casino would have immediately shut the machine down once they discovered their error, but unless they had hard evidence of complicity by the player, they would simply chalk it up as a loss. He also said the exact same error occurred on an STP game when he earlier worked as an attendant at yet another casino, so this is not as unheard of as some seem to think. He said his attendants have encountered VP and slot machine errors that favor the player --- not uncommon.

Thanks for the clear answer Chi.
Glad to see you are not waiting for that apology.

chicago, you have nothing to apologize for. as far as the one who complained, consider the source.

Notes, i was not referring to any apology on Chicagoan's part in my post, let me make that clear.
He is DUE an apology for falsely being called a liar by, as you call him, "the source".

Bob, I think with you seeing the need to explain to the forum what Improv comedy is could be just the perfect example of why some people here cannot stomach you.

Just my take.
