A big win playing quarter video poker
Seeing all of great winning stories reminds me of a winning moment at the Downstream casino near Joplin. My wife and I love to stay and play there. A few years ago we arrived and headed to play a little video poker at one of the bars. All of the bar top video poker machines have a progressive Royal that increases over time and play. We are primarily quarter players,so when we sat down to play I looked at the progressive amount and I noticed it was $4200. I told my wife oops I accidentally picked a $1 game , them we looked again and realized that the quarter progressive had actually grown to over $4000. Wow ! I started to play and before I spent my first $20 , I hit that huge Royal Flush. Talk about surprise and joy ! I have hit many other Royal Flushes before and after this one....but the amount and timing still makes it the most memorable.

I've seen bigger. A casino employee alerted a friend to a $6500 25Cent progressive maybe two years ago on the strip. They were retiring some games and somehow put this huge progressive on a bank of eight machines. He made some calls and we ended up tieing up the entire bank. It's rare but it does happen.
Anyway, kudos on a nice quick hit. We had to plug away for a few hours before we hit it.

One of the casinos here used to have a progressive that started at $2000. On second look, it was a 10 coin game.

When casinos have progressives on machines or games they no longer want to offer, they have to pay out that money and it can be an opportunity for the sharp player. I won't go into it anymore, but it doesn't hurt to have your phone number on some employees speed dial.

Possible progressive dump. They'll throw it into VP quite a bit.
And I've seen bigger. On my gf's 30th birthday at Luxor about 340pm. I had played it 40 hours earlier for ~$2660 playing 9/5 JoB, but nope. No seat open on Sunday until after it hit. The guy standing with the blurred face was the lucky one.
The meter was 0.9% at the time.

I see and thank your for the picture.
$4800 royal flush on quarter game should add about 10-12%, I think you are probably off by a magnitude if I am not mistaken.
And holding suited ace & ten is a no brainer.

since the royal flush adds apx. 2% and is apx. 5x higher at almost 5000 dollars then 10% higher return with ajusted play ! almost 110% return . see bob dancer or new to vp. for exactitudes , if there is such a word lol . still cant spell !

No, I meant the METER was 0.9%. So when I played that game at ~$2660 40 hours earlier, they played about (4810.72-2660)/0.009/1.25 = 191,175 hands without hitting a royal in those 40 hours. There were 10 units there, so each unit was being played 477.94 hands an hour on average until it was hit. Probably some big losses for any "team". That guy didn't look to be on a "team". Pretty sure woman next to him was his wife.

Unfortunately meters are no longer "good". When we played the 12 machine (no longer there) $0.25, 7/5 DDB bank at Casino Arizona years ago the RF progressive was often over $1500, the AWAK over $600, etc. One time when we were there the AWAK was over $1000. One night I hit the RF for over $1800. Even the plain Aces, and 2,3,4WAK, progressives would go $300+. When they changed the bank to multigame machines, the progressive amounts went way down. The meters are even slower today.
