Unfamiliar with this version. Seems to be traditionally very popular in the South as well.

Yep very popular saying down South. I remember it on the farm where I spent my summers as a kid. One of the two my Uncle had weighed over 700 lbs. We know what happened to him.

Can i ask you how long you have used hearing aids and what type of hearing loss do you have? by that I mean waht caused it, what percentage do u still have and so forth?
I'm thinking about acquiring cochlear implants for my hearing deficit since the devices I currently have no longer cut it and my hearing loss is permanent. i agree though that taking out or shutting down or off the hearing aids is a good way to ignore people around you who are talking out of their behinds!

I have used hearing aids for about 30 years. I have high end hearing loss mostly. Caused initially by competitive level skeet and trap shooting before hearing protection became widely used or mandated. The resulting tinnitus just eventually didn't go away. As age happened it got worse. 68 dcb loss in my left ear(closest to the muzzle of a gun for a right hander) and 56 dcb loss in my right.
My aids are quite powerful and even at lowest volume are a problem in noisy situations not just talkers but also the heavy background noise of a casino.
But the real problem for me is speech recognition.
My current set is two years old and while fairly expensive do not perform well on this problem.
I have searched everywhere for ratings of different brands and models for speech recognition with no luck. Wish someone could help on that.
Sorry to hear about your problem but is a better one for us than some people have.

I agree on that one Tech. I don’t have them yet, but have loss from shooting as well. Wore no protection at all in my early years. My hearing loss comes in play where there is lots of background noise and I can’t hear the person near me speaking well. Drives my wife nuts. Of course she thinks I ignore her on purpose. Good luck AC getting yours resolved as well. I actually havint even had a hearing test yet

Yep, TK was back like clockwork. We’re on nearby banks with our backs to each other. I had a decent enough day. Wish I had more courage. Determined not to repeat last week.
