TED can i borrow your Super Deciphering Decoder Ring?
Does that mean you'll take the challenge? :)
I accept the challenge, but that has nothing to do with my question.

Notes i believe losing slowwwwwly is his mantra, and sounds like accepting reality to me.
It is easy to miss a single point among his legendary verbiage. ;) :)

Phil (a.k.a. Sky Masterson), what is your purpose and reason for this challenge?
Because I don't believe most of the regulars on this forum can stay out of a casino for 30 days. I have a "love" "hate" relationship with video poker myself. I enjoy the game as any other computer game like Tetris or Candy Crush. I'm not much of a gambler, I don't drink and I go to bed at 9:30 PM. I enjoy romantic evenings with my wife. Casinos are great getaways for a couple. Our video poker vacations are a way to road trip the country and get free rooms. All we have to do is play their lousy games. They don't seem to mind us playing small. Probably because the rooms they comp us would be empty if we weren't there. You don't need to play big to get a comped room.

What I dislike is people who know better promoting casino games as income producers. They aren't fooling me. The people they do fool eventually find out otherwise. I feel these promoters should go about their business and leave the profit motive out of it. Who's life is made better by this marketing? The casino owners and stock holders benefit. The people promoting "casino beating" products do as well. The number of actual casino profiteers is so tiny, it's not even worth discussing. Compared to the number of losers, it's a wonder anyone believes they exist at all.

What happens is players get hooked on a cycle of losing and attempting to recover losses. They can't stay out of the casino because they think math owes them a jackpot. We even have a member here who claims to know the number of hands in long term. This just isn't so. Once you break that cycle you are free to enjoy the game for what it is intended to be, pure entertainment.

I hope some of this makes sense to someone other than me. If you think I'm just an old man with crazy ideas or a preacher, try staying away for 30 days... If you can.

that WAS his mantra (less than 5 coin bet). now he has moved onto quitting altogether and seeking others to join him. and, what business of his whether folks can stay away from the casino for any period of time.
he seems to sense he knows what is better for everyone than they know themselves.

if i want someone to control my life, i will just seek out a liberal, who believes they (the government) knows what is best for everyone.

Your point is well taken,i stand corrected. On the WAS part that is.
However if one issues a challenge they surely are open for one.
I therefor challenge FP to adhere to a 140 character/post limit for 30 days.
IMPOSSIBLE! you say? I tend to agree, but let's see what he's made of.
Think of the huge time savings in scrolling past his posts.
It's also possible, if he embraces succinctness, for an uncluttered gem of wisdom to shine through on occasion.

FP if you accept the challenge, as i accepted yours, i will join you in this one.
Although it will not be easy for me either.

Phil, what you wrote above is a clear indicator that you have not altered your posting ways. You have gone from calling people "experts" to calling them "promoters." You mention people getting hooked on a cycle of losing and attempting to recover losses and you say that "once you break that cycle you are free to enjoy the game for what it is intended to be, pure entertainment."

I doubt very highly that the makers of gambling games such as video poker ever intended them to be, pure entertainment.

I do think you have become a preacher here and it has become tiring. I'm not saying that you are old but what I am saying is that your sermons are getting old.

Give me a break, Tech! Even Twitter saw fit to expand beyond the puny 140 character paradigm. 280 since 2017.

Video poker is great stress relief for me though itself creates its own stress. I will admit I miss it already. It does away with the have toos for awhile. Extra nice the days/nites the Mrs. can come. Nice to walk into a neat clean room where everything is ready for you. To sit down and get served for free. Well, sorta free. I like to drive so thats cool up and back except at rush hour. And then there is the challenge of trying to stay even or better. For me, just fun all the way around.
