The lighter side... playing for entertainment, less concerned about "the math."
Phil in you post of June 9, 2017 @6:32 am you stated: "Having a large bankroll keeps you from busting over time."

Would you consider this a half truth? I only ask because what you
stated will not keep you from busting over time but having a large
bankroll and being a disciplined player is more likely to keep you from
busting over time.

I'm not trying to throw kerosene on the fire but I'm just asking for clarity.
Ted, I am purely a recreational VP player and as such do not give
advice on "for profit" VP strategies.   Mr. Dancer is the world's expert on these strategies and I would defer to his knowledge.  However, I am qualified to give my
option and that's what I am providing here.I'm not sure what the context of my post was back then, but I will say this.  If you have a large enough bankroll, you can never bust no matter how disciplined or skilled you are or aren't.  This is the main advantage that the casinos have over players.  If your goal in playing VP is profit alone, Mr. Dancer states you must find and play positive VP opportunities perfectly with an adequate bankroll.  Even then there is no guarantee you will earn a profit.   What you are doing is putting yourself in the best position for profit and counting on random chance to produce a result at least as good as the overall odds indicate. In my view the problem with video poker math is that it doesn't take into consideration the limited playing time of a human lifespan.  In addition, if you are going to count raffles and drawings as profit, there is always a chance they won't go your way.  In my opinion this means all players including Mr. Dancer are relying on some measure of luck to make a long term profit.  If jackpots don't happen at the right frequency, you will lose money long term no matter who you are, how skilled you are or how disciplined you may be.  Video poker machines are not calculators that always come up with the expected answer each time and human players can not play long enough to remove all randomness from the game. This does not mean Mr. Dancer's strategies have no value, they do.  What it means is there is always a chance your results may differ from the calculated odds.  This is the reason I am an advocate of playing VP as small as possible.  To me the risk of gambling big money on VP is not worth the reward.

I should have taken this tip. Winning big is great fun, and is much more likely to be achieved with a robust BR.

Taking advice from a guy who was banned for constantly posting bad advice certainly is one way to go.
