I'm a recreational non-player I guess...

The lighter side... playing for entertainment, less concerned about "the math."

For the year 2018, which is now two months old, I've yet to play a single hand or game in a casino....

This just dawned on me....my last foray to AC was around the secular holiday of December 25 ( actually Dec 22 thru 26). All of last year, 2017, my least/lowest level ever of casino play, I made a total of four trips to AC of 4-5 days, and one short two day affair...most of the action I did allow in VP last year did fall at the CET casinos, with GN getting a decent minority share, such that I was still able to get Diamond level 2 despite such limited play. In past years, I would visit AC at least once a month for a minimum of five days, usually at least seven days, a trip....a few even longer!

All I can say is less is definitely more for me...if and when I now do go to a casino it's with a much larger overall bankroll, and VP is less and less a factor while card games, especially live poker, which gives you the ultimate level of control and mitigation of "luck", are the biggest element of casino activity.

It now looks my first foray into a casino for 2018 will be in AC in mid March....June may see me make my first visit to Vegas in nearly two years.

I have played much less this year as well. I think part of it is I rather just pay off some bills and not donate. The casino has really slowed on comps so it does not make much sense spending a large amount of money. We did go to Tropicana in Evansville yesterday. We had not been there for a time so I played 1,500 plus points.

I just shut down from Foxwoods completely. I'm a Platinum player there. They got a new new marketing team manager. First they reduced my free play to 5 bucks then 0. Then they pulled my comp rooms except for two trees then pulled that too. Just got my win loss for 2017 from them. Left 28k there last year. Guess they don't care about that. I left a message or two with player development to get back to me so I could go over the scenario with them. No response. Just wait until MGM opens in Springfield....They think they are hurting now....Ha....this is nothing. What mentality runs these places. Facts and numbers don't lie. Guess they can't see the forest for the trees.

Yes indeed, now you know at least part of the reason I don't frequent foxweeds except for the occasional, exceptionally good holdem tournament. They flat out stink at marketing and attracting/keeping players, and ever since their boondoggle with their MGM tower sucked the life out of the tribe about a decade ago, they do not give anything to anyone except the players who need and want it least!

Olds, if and when you ever do decide to hit the upcoming MGM Springfield, I'm serious, give me a heads-up so I can make time to see you...

Kudos to the bill paying, you'll feel better if and when you do decide to play. Your observations about casinos and comps is generally true...if you stay away for a while, you might get a surprise in the form of enticements to return, if not, no big deal.

If I lived in the general area where you live, that portion of the country, I'd forgotten all the isolated pockets of Casinos and just save up for a few trips to Vegas, which generally doesn't disappoint if you know what you're doing.

Just got my win loss for 2017 from them. Left 28k there last year.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Whale of a loss. I assume that their calculation methodology includes money you won during sessions which subsequently did a 180 back into their coffers. So "out of pocket" loss may be less. What's your view on this theory?
