Charter flights

Post by JoB Hero »

Dose anyone know of charter flights other then TR/CET, riverside Laughlin, wendover, mlife/Biloxi? I wasn’t sure where else you can go and get comped flights after first visit if you gain enough players card points.

In our world charter flights offers are rare.  Most of them are bundled packages that come with a fee of some kind.  The deals aren't too bad, but the casinos normally have poor VP odds.   To fly you around for free, there has to be a good possibility of the casino making a profit. The only "free" charter flight offers we receive are from the Beau Rivage in Biloxi.   Until two years ago we were making 2-3 comped flights a year.  Biloxi is an enjoyable family trip if you play small and don't get your hopes up.   The odds are against you, but you can limit the damage if you play small and conservatively.   I've hit quite a number of royals there, but the games will take it back if you're not frugal. The Beau is an MLife casino.  Once you establish yourself with them, they are generous with their room comps.   From our play in Biloxi we were able to get four nights at the Borgata in AC this spring.  This surprised us.   We are rethinking our relationship with MLife.  As a Recreational Player it's easy to get hung up on VP odds.    We stay with max coin quarters and the casino invites us back.   MLife allows us to link our accounts.  We put  a lot of hours in on the machines.  This makes us to look like a better customer, which is probably why we get so many offers.Positive VP odds are paramount if you are wagering big money for profit.  Not so much if you are playing quarters looking for a good time.  We live 2,300 miles from the nearest positive VP game.  For us the idea that all video poker play must be profitable is unrealistic.   Other forum members may have different opinions.

Obviously, Phil knows as much about getting free flights as he does about the world of higher mathematics.

I agree. Billryan, you seem to be making some posts lately that are nothing more than a swipe at FloridaPhil. That isn't what this forum is for and it certainly doesn't encourage new people to ask questions or share information if they feel they are going to be "pounced on" if they are not as well informed as others may be.

If you have additional information about charter flights or want to correct a statement, feel free to do so in a positive manner. But this badgering needs to stop.

Thank you.    I agreed to be banned from the Strategy Forum because I have nothing to add to that discussion.  We are Recreational Players exclusively.   This does not mean we do foolish things.  It means our personal VP strategy values entertainment over profit. We are very active players.  I would wager a guess that my wife and I play more VP at more different casinos than practically anyone else on this website.   We travel the country playing VP and the things we see and learn may have value to other players.   If you want to discuss video poker mathematics, the place for that is the Strategy Forum.   If you want to discuss video poker as entertainment, we are well versed on that subject.   We enjoy promoting video poker as entertainment and are willing to share our experiences.  Anything more than that is above our pay grade.

Phil stated that in our world, charter fights are rare.
Without knowing where the op lives, his level of play or several other factors.
His blanket statement is wrong. Such flights aren't rare, depending on where you live and where you want to go.
When I lived in NY,charters to AC and Tunics were easy to come by. When I asked about Laughlin, I was told the closest city to get a flight was Rochester. Not worth it for me, perfect for my friends in Brockport.
I'd fly into Vegas, rent a car and meet them so that we had a car for the week.
His blanket statement is wrong.
They are rare to us.   When you are a quarter VP player, free round trip flights to a casino are few and far between.  If a casino is offering you a free round trip flight to and from Florida, they expect something in return.  I doubt many casinos are in the business of flying players all over the country so they can play 100% games and live "nice lifestyles" off their generosity.  They expect you to play big and lose bigger.  We play small and lose little.   For us free rooms in nice casino resorts are common.  Free flights?  Not so much.Video poker players are a very diverse group.  It is played by people of all experience, skill, budgets and personal tolerance levels.   You can not make accurate statements about VP that fit all people for all situations.  There are dozens of books and websites to help players whose goal it is to make money playing the game.   All players want to win.  What is lacking is information for players who play negative VP on a limited budget.  Those are the players I am attempting to help with my posts.

Thank you for the information Phil I would consider myself a low roller, I may bring several thousands with me but cringe when I’m Dow about 2k... in my younger 20’s I of course played to “get rich”.. now it’s about going out and having a great time with breaking as close to even as possible.. big losses happen even on quarter play for sure in a 4 day span.. even more on dollars as I just found out on the latest trip...

I’m looking to play best machines when I play. I could care less if the best machine still isn’t 100%+ in any casino I’m in.. 97% is my limit.. there has to be some self respect 😂😂. My rate of play would be around 600 a hand. I love visiting with other VP players at the bar or in the pit. I drink when I’m gambling. You could put me at 98% accuracy and deteriorate through the night..

Last year while playing blackjack/VP only I had racked up about 2200 players points at the riverside in Laughlin. Because of this they gave me free air/hotel for 2. I took my father on a father son trip and we had a blast..

I’m looking to repeat this cycle over and over again at various properties that offer charters.

Sorry for the biography, being new to the forums I just wanted to clear things up about the player I am. I’m definitely glad I made an account here.
