The Face of a smart gambler

Post by OTABILL »

There is an interesting piece with the subject title on pages 20-21 of the June issue of the AZ Gaming Guide. BTW, another article on the Tropicana in Laughlin notes that if you get quad eights in single line VP through August, you get a voucher for a free 2 topping Pizza.

Pretty slick book.   They put some money into it.  I've noticed casinos are opening up about the house edge as of late.  I saw this sign hanging in the Beau Rivage a few months ago.

EXCELLENT piece on page 34. OTA thank you very much for posting this link, I don't think I'm the only one here who enjoys reading through it.

Thanks Bill! My wife is in Zona right now, I think Scottsdale area. Shes going to hit a casino tomorrow night (Sunday).Love this on page 16.Playing casino games with a high house advantage is not the only reason you will quickly lose your bankroll. Another major contributor is "Bad Ideas."Here are some of my favorite Bad Ideas:â–ªIf you go to the casino expecting to lose, you might as well stay home because that's what's going to happen.â–ªIf you aren't willing to spend any time learning the basics of casino gambling, then you will be on every casino's "A" list as one of the biggest losers.â–ªAnother bad idea is to make sure you are tired and drink a lot when you gamble, sound familiar?â–ªNever set a gambling budget, never set any stop/loss limit and gamble non-stop.â–ªKeep playing after a big win, seriously. The longer you play the more likely it is you will give it all back.â–ªGamble more to earn a comp, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Nothing like losing $3000 to earn a free dinner!â–ªGamble more than you can comfortably lose, play with scared money, rent money, or borrowed money. These are the people that you see leaving the casino talking to themselves.â–ªGamble big to impress a friend or girlfriend, a definite buzz kill.â–ªIncrease bets to get even, this never works!â–ªPlay hunches all the time or believe that gambling is all luck.â–ªThen, my all time favorite, ask your spouse or significant other to give you back the money you told them not to give you back.If you are guilty of going to the casino and playing exclusively high negative expectation games or doing any one of my "Bad Ideas," maybe you should take some time to reevaluate your play. Recently it occurred to me that the "Gamblers Anonymous Hotline" would be much more popular if they made every tenth caller a winner.

Thanks for sharing Otabill. I used to regularly read the So. Calif. gaming guide so I'm guessing similar publishers. SCGG covered the Indian casinos and all the promos etc. Bob Dancer had a monthly column as well. One can read it at "thegamingguide.com"

Thanks for the link.

I see an Albuquerque casino's advertisement in there. Route 66 Casino is about 10 miles outside of Albuquerque. It looks like it's catering to the RV crowd. It's a nice place. Their concert venue is nice.
