Olds, it's great you helped your unfortunate friend out.... We already knew you were a decent friendly human being so it's not a surprise.

The reward for being kind and generous is simply the good feeling that accompanies such acts, and knowledge you made someone happy if only for a moment.

You subsequent success at VP had nothing to do with that, and I'm pretty sure you are wise and smart enough to know that. I'm happy for you that you are deriving satisfaction from your relationship to Mohegan since it is so close and convenient to you.

Now if both Ct. casinos would only ban smoking....In this day and age, I don't know how the legislature continues to allow smoking which kills both its employees and patrons. Maybe the non smoking Mass. casinos will have some impact on our legislature, but I'm not sure. I have written and called our legislature over the years with zero results so far. They could always build a separate pavilion next to the casino itself for the die hard smokers. By the way there is a reason for the term die hard. We make the casinos comply with so many other laws in our state, there is no reason not to impose and enforce a smoking ban. They have to comply with our liquor laws.I know it all comes down to money. One of the richest states in the union being Ct. is broke. Well, we know who to blame for that.

Revel AC tried that non smoking policy and then quickly allowed smokers once it became clear that too many gamblers are still smokers!

Olds, ask yourself why, in this day and age of soaring medical cost and the imminent crisis with Medicare, why are tobacco products still legal and allowed at all??

I'm not one to have big brother regulate our lives, but I will say this. The states see money rolling in from taxes on cigarettes, beer and liquor, and casino revenue. Whatever doesn't disappear into the crooks who we put into office, gets used for so many pet projects. Our state did quite well before the awful state income tax and casino revenue. So what happened? As to the social security and nationwide health crises, I think the states are short sided and just feel Washington will take care of things like that for the most part. Who on this forum hasn't lost a friend, relative, or children of relatives to the heroin epidemic in this country along with opioids and who knows what else. The costs associated with this stuff is beyond belief including placing children into state care and on and on. Our family has lost 2 cousins and may lose a third to this crisis. None in Ct, but that doesn't matter. As to the cigarettes, it breaks my heart to see so many college age and supposedly smart young people at the casino chain smoking. I know this is all off topic, but so much of it does directly relate to Mohegan Sun and other casinos. Finally, hardly a week goes by where there isn't a serious accident near the casinos from boozed up people who just left the casino. I don't claim to know what the solution is because life is about choices. Those who make the wrong choices suffer the consequences, but unfortunately take down innocent people and children with them.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Casinos inspire way too many bad choices. All you can do is preach moderation.

A family family friend and farmer who lived to be 96 told me on my weekly trip to his farm to get eggs for mom and dad....In life eat everything in moderation and you will be fine...my eggs excepted. He and his family ate dozens of eggs a week. He said the secret is cook your eggs at low temperature and preferably eat them poached or soft boiled. To this day, I have poached eggs 4 or 5 days a week at my local diner. The lecithin in eggs absorbs bad cholesterol and increases good cholesterol. My good cholesterol number is 75. Hope he is right. So far so good.
Now back to topic. Had an OK trip overnight for our anniversary last night. For a change, I decided to play DDS deuces wild. I was lucky to get good hands late in the session and end up even with 3 dealt wild royals in a 2 hour period.
