Beat up good, but 3 cent spin bails me out.

The lighter side... playing for entertainment, less concerned about "the math."

Beat up good, but 3 cent spin bails me out.

Post by olds442jetaway »

Lots of fun last night at Mohegan Sun. Spent time with the Mrs. overnight playing, dining, walking, and mics extra curricular activities. So they beat us up good early on then the Mrs. hit DDB ultimate x low number quad with a kicker and 5 multiplier on a nickel machine. She bailed up 200 and did a little late night shopping before the mall closed.
I got clobbered on quarter deuces for 300 then tried to bail out by playing Bonus Deuces on my favorite 800 for one dollar machine. Another 200 gone in minutes. Took a break and had my second Tittos, tonic, and tripple lime wedge drink in the lounge and on the way out took in the sights for a few seconds at the club on little black dress night.
A marathon player like me I know finally got up from the low budget spin poker machine I like around 2 am. I settled in with my third and final Tittos for what I knew would be a long grind attempt at a comeback. I like this lone machine because even though it only has a 96 percent return paytable, you can play just 3 cents a line and switch to nickels, dimes, or twenty cent play spin poker within the same machine. perfect for my Martingale clone play.
Like Fla Phil has said many times, in vp anything can and will happen. Tonight was no exception. I decided to play 3 lines on bonus deuces wild. After a mini beating for awhile, switch to nickel play, get whacked again switch to dimes, and if necessary in desperation switch 20 cent play.
By 7am, I had all of my money back and some pocket change. Most of the good hits were at the dime level. I never ventured to the twenty cent game. The crazy thing is all of the good hits were on the top line and none on the center or bottom line. I caught a Royal for 400 bucks on the dimes, quad deuces twice and 5 Aces 3 times. A few wild royals and low number 5 of a kinds too at the 3 and 5 cent level just for good measure. Missed the sunrise because I was still playing, but up by noon then after a nice lunch with the Mrs. off for our drive home on this near perfect day weather wise. Edited to add, she talked me into stopping at Kohls on the way home, but it gave me a chance for a few more zzzzzzs in the car to finish playing catch up.

I don't care what anyone says, VP is hard work when you're clawing your way up. Good job.

I had a recoup today too. I was regretting the ATM sprint when my dear friend Quad arrived. What a cherished appearance! $75 Deuces, of course, as the hand was $3 JOB. But back in the black on the day. I can happily deposit the day's withdrawals and be guilt free. Chasing Quad did cost me $32. He is highly elusive.

Sounds like fun.   Sometimes things just go your way.  Years ago when my wife first started playing VP, she was learning Jacks or Better.   In those days I gave her money to play.    She just started playing when she hit quad 4s.  The bell went off and stayed on longer than usual.  I looked down and she was playing double double bonus by mistake and had an ace with the quad.  She gave me the money.    Jackpot!!

I got a late bailout on the 9/6 JOB multistrikes at Borgata on Friday, but it wasn't a big deal. Was down about $ 200 when I got to the top line and was dealt 4 cards to an inside straight flush and converted for $ 500, just as I needed to leave.

It seems as though many VP players wives/gfs like to shop at Kohls. I know mine does.

Funny thing is when my wife plays VP and she's losing, she goes shopping.   She says she would rather have something to show for her money than memories.  Makes sense.

AC is made for shopping your winnings away. Outlet culture and good restaurants. Stay and give back is a poor option, bound to leave you poorer.
