I agree with much of his article, but not his conclusions.
I don't think of myself as a VP player. I play it when it is to my advantage to play. If, because of a promo, keno is the better play, where do you suppose you could find me? With the current crop of very vulturable slots out on the floor, playing VP with a 1/2%% edge makes no sense when slots are better.

Good article. Significant advantage play never found it's way to Florida casinos. I remember playing 9/6 Jacks in Biloxi before hurricane Katrina. With a free room and food, it was possible if you didn't count the 3% Mississippi gambling tax. These days, you are lucky to find 8/5 in quarters. The last time we were there 7/5 Jacks was the standard even in the high limit rooms.

Is making a profit essential to the enjoyment of playing VP? Do most players care if they have an edge? A few do, most don't care. Most players go to the casino to be entertained. Everyone expects to win when they walk in the front door. Ask them again when then walk out and you will get a different answer. Video Poker odds will continue to be reduced until they match the return on slots. In Florida, that's currently about 90%. As long as players play the game, it will stay no matter what the odds. When they stop, VP will be a thing of the past.

I love that NO POINTS sticker on the machine. So distracting. I'd bring something to cover it while playing.
