Casino fail in customer service

Post by mightwin »

Most casinos are very nice to their gamblers. Every once in a while you get the tail end of someone's bad day. On rare occasions the casino workers are the reason for your bad day.

While living in Las Vegas I would make the rounds to collect gifts and freeplay. I would usually go in the day time because it was easier for me. One day at the Stratosphere every kiosk was down and they only had one cashier's cage open. Yes, the line was long. I had made the comment to a gentlemen in front of me showing him my cash voucher - how much would he pay for (it). Suddenly I'm grabbed out of line and taken into a hallway I didn't know was there. The security guard told me soliciting wasn't allowed inside the casino. I was shocked, insulted, and arguing with him that I wasn't a hooker. He went on to comment that I didn't look dressed for the part - but they saw all kinds. WHAT? Now I've been told I'm not dressed well enough to be a hooker? Screaming for his or any supervisor I was taken down that long hallway to an office. There was a supervisor and he listened to my story. I told him I was asking how much the gentlemen would pay for the win voucher just to be done with the line. It was the security guard's first day on the job. The supervisor apologized for his mistake. They did get my voucher cashed and I got a free buffet voucher. Insulted but fed. Morale of this story - watch what you're saying in a casino.

Congratulations on the buffet bonanza hustle! Worked like a charm.

But you did solicit. Solicitation doesn't necessarily have to mean paying for sex.

Should have the security guard cared about this given the nightmare scenario? Meh.

I was solicited for my poker chips once in Missouri and I complied. Back then Missouri had a $500 loss limit per 2 hours, the dude buying them off me possibly had to purchase them from me instead of the poker cashier to keep playing. If we were caught by the casino, it's possible we would both get in trouble because he "solicited" me for those chips.

Yeah it is kinda funny how I can give away 200 buck a seat concert tickets to a total stranger, yet I cannot sell them to my brother for a dollar. Every day I get 2 comp buffet tickets at the casino. Most times I don’t use them. So many days I brouse the waiting to pay line. When I see a couple who imo looks a bit down and out in the line, I give them the vouchers. I have never had any problems so far. Probably some of the prople I gave them to are millionaires, but I really don’t care.

Alrighty then. Here's a story with a happy ending.

I ordered a drink from a nice drink lady and tipped her immediately while ordering - in case I was out of money when she brought the drink. About an hour later she came by again asking if I wanted a cocktail. I hadn't gotten the original one yet. She looked at me and suddenly apologized for her mistake - it was her first day back from a maternity leave. I said it was ok, instead of the Bailey's I ordered originally, I said just bring me a beer. She brought me that beer immediately and a full glass of Bailey's - a large water glass full. It was probably half the bottle. I looked at her and laughed - I said I can't drink that much before I go to my dinner. Her suggestion was to take it to my room (I was staying at the hotel). Great suggestion. I gave her another $2 and we were both pleased.
