a question for Phil or anyone who lives in FL

a question for Phil or anyone who lives in FL

Post by stevel96a1 »

heading to Florida this vacation sometime in august or september, apparently a 3hr flight from nyc and 4 nights in a decent hotel will run me 1220$ easy but atlantic city 4 nights and transportation is 645$ heres the kicker flight and hotel in in vegas is 687$ vegas really wants the action but atlantic city is so shady and not as nice as vegas

but my question is any good casinos in Florida? any which i should avoid at all cost?
anything good in dania beach casino? if i cant find it on VPfree2.com is worth checking out?

p.s i got this hand last weekend https://imgur.com/a/WQ8dp2A no 2nd photo so you know the end result =/

Florida will be hot and sticky that time of year. It's also the height of the hurricane season.

If you are looking for positive VP odds, you will not find them in Florida. The major casinos in Florida are owned by the tribes. The two largest casinos are the Tampa and Hollywood Hard Rocks. Both are currently undergoing major construction. Tampa is my nearest casino and the one where I play the most. It's a great facility, but the VP odds are in the 97-98% range unless you want to play $25 a hand.
In the short amount of time you are going to be there, odds are not going to matter that much.

I would avoid Hollywood right now. It's a mess. They are rushing to finish all the upgrades before the Super Bowl next February. South Florida has a number of smaller casinos and racinos. None of them have great video poker. Coconut Creek is nice. It has nickel video poker, but it's hard to get a seat. The best quarter odds are in Immokalee. It's a tiny farming town about an hour and a half west if the Hard Rock. It's close to Ft. Myers. They have 98.9% Deuces Wild if you want to make the long drive.

Playing video poker is Florida is about entertainment. The casinos do a nice job. All the casinos are new and beautiful. Seniors love casino gambling. They have time and money. Most could care less about the odds. South Florida is worth visiting. The beaches are beautiful and there is a lot to see. I grew up in Miami and it has changed a lot. Most people in South Florida are bilingual.

There is a gambling boat that goes out of Titusville on the east coast. Don't waste your time. If you want to see the sights, theme parks, beautiful beaches and pretty girls in Bikinis, Florida is a great place to visit. If great video poker is important to you, save your money and go to Vegas.

The only casino in Florida where I have seen nickle VP is Coconut Creek. It's about 30 minutes north of Ft. Lauderdale. I do not know what the odds are. I suspect they are in the 96% range.

I don't put much faith in the ability of game odds to predict short term results. I have won big playing 96% games and lost big playing full pay games.

I play Deuces Wild exclusively. 6% of that game is tied up in the royal and quad deuce jackpots alone. If you play a 100% game and don't hit your share of those hands, you lose. If you play a 96% game and hit more than your share, you win. As a Recreational player, it doesn't need to be any more complicated than that.

How is 9/7 Jacks yuck? Lol

Dania Beach has one Hot Roll machine. If they offer nickel denomination (I don't know if they do), there will likely be a game near or above 97%. The minimum that game is allowed to offer for JoB and Bonus Deluxe is 8/5.

But generally speaking, I agree with Phil. I wouldn't visit Florida with gambling being the primary intent.

I use a strategy in Florida that has been working for me over the past year. To me "working" in video poker allows me to play the game as much as I want with minimum out of pocket investment. Video poker keeps my mind active and gives me something to think about other than the last Presidential tweet. It's the perfect activity for a senior retiree. Unfortunately, it can be costly if you don't have a workable plan.

I play 4-5,000 hands of 97% single line video poker each week. I play max coin quarter VP about 95% of the time and max coin dollar VP about 5%. So far this year, my cost to play has been less than $1,000 and I haven't been that lucky this year. If you factor in approximately $25-$50 a week in free play, free lunches, free drinks, and comped rooms, It's a real bargain.

My strategy revolves around traditional single line max coin Deuces Wild. I feel this game is the best entertainment bargain in the casino. I took the best of the expert strategy, applied it to the games I have to play and made a few adjustments. My strategy is not complicated, does not require counting hands or super human skill. The entertainment level is high and it can be used in any casino in the US.

I have a couple of firm rules. I made a lot of mistakes in the past and these rules are a result of that experience. I will share my rules and my strategy in another thread if anyone asks me to. If you want to learn how to profit from today's VP, I am not that guy. If you want to enjoy playing a lot of video poker without the excessive losses, huge bankroll swings and the regrets, I will be happy to provide that information and you don't have to buy anything.

Phil, i have been thinking about positive progression systems alot lately, especially in past 5 months where i been on that powerful win streak that you spoke off in vegas similar to mine, i was thinking what if i kicked off at 1$ to 2$ and then 5$ sorta like 1-2-3 in blackjack formula where Patterson blackjack formula said try a 1,2,3 system even tho he said it wouldn't beat the house but would up swing my winning days, so id be alot richer now then i would be playing strictly quarters i would adjust the play more suitable to video poker instead of 5$ a turn 5$ would equal 250$ in quarters and 500$ would equal half dollars and so on, any loss i endure of a 1,000 credit id go back to .25s and work back up to half dollars and then dollars if i continue to hit royals,

im sure im not the only one who drools over video poker royals that pay out 40 grand theres endless videos on youtube showing just that, my main point being if i get a cluster of royal flushes in a short amount of time a positive progression would beat the snot out of any flat betting system obviously betting max would be ultimate but who knows when a royal will come and we have our bankrolls to protect
