organ donation

Post by notes1 »

how about a non political discussion.

in the 3 states we have lived in, one had to 'opt in' to be an organ donor, when applying or renewing your drivers license. for years, i have wondered, why isn't it the reverse? in other words, it is still voluntary, but everyone would be an organ donor, unless they 'opt out'.

no idea how many, but there must be tens of thousands of folks who need livers, kidneys, hearts, eyes, etc. what a great gift to give someone life, after you die. let someone else benefit, from something we no longer need.

maybe, there are some with religious beliefs or some other reason not to donate, fine, opt out.

May seem strange to some but i would have no problem with it as long as there was the opt out option anytime one wanted to use it

Imagine the outrage the day President Whomever decrees the Federal Government has instituted mandatory organ harvesting. Now imagine that President then exempts the ten percent of the population that is predominantly composed of his biggest contributors. I'm all for harvesting organs people voluntarily provide. Suggesting the government should have the right to harvest it's citizens is ghoulish.

ghoulish.
another example of reading comprehension problem. VOLUNTARY, ONE CAN OPT OUT. it can be approved on a state by state basis, not a national law.

and, ghoulish? better hope you are never in need of a heart, lung, kidney, liver, etc, or you will die.

from the guy who quotes scripture and how we should care about our fellow man.
