Re: It Happened Again! Dealt Royal
Luck, timing, and/or skill I'll take them. Of course it helps especially at Coushatta where the pay tables are still incredible. The multi-hand 50-100 play has a minimum of 10 hands but 1, 2, 5, and 25¢ all have basically high 98 or 99% return. The best I've found in La. Being a Native American casino is part of the reason but my fear is the new Director from Choctaw in OK will continue to screw things up. But, playing high percentage return games increases the odds of winning.

olds, my concern is that this year again our VP G's will cost us again even though we can show a loss for the year. Its killing our AGI and therefore taxes and medicare.

For 2018, being forced to itemize and the cap of 10 k in state and local taxes cost an extra 4 k more than if we had no gross gambling income and took the standard deduction. Ct has its hand out on all gross gambling winnings. Every w-2G I have to withhold about 7 percent. I will never see that money again. So in addition to the 4 k in extra Fed tax and the Medicare B premium increase, we lose about 7 percent on all of the w-2Gs. I don’t even want to know what that number is, but you can imagine. I don’t mind paying on any net winnings so much, but taxing one on the gross is insanity. On top of that Ct is supposed to be one of the richest states in the Union and it is broke. For all of my complaining, I consider myself very lucky tonight. Someone got carjacked down State abd after a 30 mile chase where the suspect was ramming cars on I 95 the State police finally caught up with him in traffic and after a struggle thank goodness blew him away. I was on that road in that area at that exact time on the way to the casino. I didn’t see it, but it is still all over the news.

olds,
I was going to start a new thread but...we're having to reconsider how we play due the G's impact on us on our AGI. So check out my new thread under strategies. In essence do I reduce to lower denomination or play less hands?

It is such a tough call. For now, after getting destroyed on taxes and fees for 2018 and 2019, I have both reduced denomination at the expense of a poorer paytable and when playing quarters betting no more than five. I do have the one dollar machine that pays 800 for bet one for the Royal, but if I bet more than one line and hit a Royal, I’m screwed tax wise again. There is really no good solution I can think of, but I will wait for the thread.

Hey Larry,
Tell me more about the issues with Choctaw in Durant with the director. I go there often and I am curious.

We love Choctaw Durant and stop their on our way up to or back from Missouri. The GM (?) of Choctaw Durant or the Choctaw casino group moved to Coushatta in Kinder, La. the largest and oldest casino in La. Everything has been going down hill since. Employee morale is cratering, top tier players are upset and its sad because he appears to be lowering standards to OK level bring down an "elite casino".
Looking forward to our next trip this spring up that way. BTW we stay at Downstream when we visit MO. A really nice place like Durant. Maybe we can meet up some trip up there.

We'll probably head that way this spring or early summer to Missouri. Maybe we can meet up.
