SMOKE CAN SPREAD VIRUS!!

Post by tech58 »

Found several articles by"medical experts" who stated that second-hand smoke can carry the virus.
One stated "... if you can smell the smoke, and that person is sick with COVID-19,you're at risk of getting sick yourself."
Another, "Pandemic:Cigarette smoke can spread virus up to 10 meters(30 feet)away."

E-mailed this info to my home casino and asked them if "they planned to address this issue or ignore it."

Any odds on what their response will be,if any?

No response or a general one saying they plan to adhere to the recommended health and safety guidelines and not mention smoking at all

Casino sent a reply. Hotel is to be non-smoking. Casino not.
Purely a business decision. They couldn't care less about health guidelines, or customer well-being for that matter. They have lost 2-3 months of revenue and they want it back.
They claim to have sent my "concern" to the appropriate people.

Sounds familiar to me. At one time I went as high as I could go which is pretty high with the casino leaders and the Attorney General in Ct who I knew some 45 years ago. Bottom line, it all comes down to money. The State is afraid the smokers will stay away from the casino and the casino was afraid they would lose too much business. All the powers to be had to do was at the stroke of a pen, well nowdays maybe touch of a keyboard like Massachuttes did and there would be no smoking. I have no problem with a separate building and air for smokers. Just keep away from me. I really think the revenue would just drop for a few months and then the smokers would go anyway back to the casino. Maybe they don’t want us to live to be 110 or so. By then many would be on SSI and or Medicaid. There would be a lot of Nursing Home expense for a longer time. Somehow everything always comes down to money.

That would be fine with me here in Arizona. Actually, since the casino are small and are in one building, a self contained non-smoking room would suffice. However, that would work only if there were VP machines in the non-smoking room. Lone Butte Casino, which has never had a non-smoking area, for the moment at least has converted the Bingo Hall into a non-smoking slot area. That way, with social distancing, they are able to have more slots going. Only problem is, per a representative I spoke with on the phone, there are no VP machines in the non-smoking area. I assume she is correct though I couldn't confirm unless I went there which I have no intention of doing. An example of how much VP players aren't valued.

That us for sure and even less so now as they will try and make up for everything lost at quote warp speed. So they can catch somebody who plunks 200 bucks in a slot machine and it is gone in a half hour on an 86 percent machine. Then that machine goes unplayed for hours and hours. Or they can catch me on a 98 percent machine trying for 8 hours but not hitting anything and dropping 500, 800, or even a grand or more. Every time they will prefer the slot player who dropped his/ her 200 bucks and ran. I may not be going back at all if smoking is allowed and they remove the masks to smoke. I have never seen either Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun put any of my favorite vp machines in a non smoking section that was walled off. The only place where that exists is the poker room at Mohegan which I understand will not be reopening when the casino opens in June or July. As we speak they are at war with the Governor on when and how to open.
