First Royal Flush was a Sequential Royal Progressive
In the Fall of 2005 I moved to Las Vegas from Chicago. I had vacationed in Las Vegas every year since 1990 primarily focusing on Sports betting and occasionally playing video poker. At the time I moved to Vegas I had never hit a Royal Flush. About a month after moving to Vegas, I decided to check out the Railroad Pass casino which was near my home (I resided in Henderson). After having breakfast, I noticed a bank of 25¢ Sequential Royal Progressive video poker machines. I was a little hesitant to play them, however, because they still took bills (not tickets) and paid in quarters. As I had nothing else to do that Sunday morning, I decided to play. I chose to play Double Bonus poker as it was a 10/6 payout. I played for at least an hour because I was only into the machine for $40. A short time later, I was dealt the A K and J of clubs in the proper sequential positions. I drew for the Q and T of clubs and was very surprised when they both were dealt in the proper positions! The lights on the machine started blinking as did the marquee over the bank of machines indicating I had won the $14,000 Progressive! Not bad for my first Royal Flush. About 3 weeks later I hit my second Royal (not a Sequential but still a Progressive) for $3,000 at the Silverton casino. I have been hooked on Video Poker ever since.

Ditto. I think mine started in A/C when I got tired standing at a crap table for 10 hours next to drunks, stale cigars, and crude/rude losers. Sat down at a vp machine for a rest and put in 5 bucks. Hit a Royal with it on job for a grand. The rest is history. In hindsight, math wise, craps was a better deal. Ten times free odds behind the pass line.
