Agree on the popular vote. I have posted that before. Even if 99 percent of the people lived in Alaska and the rest in other states, I would tout majority rules.

There is a compact going around the states where they will commit to casting their electors for the winner of the national vote, not their particular state.
I haven't heard a lot about it recently, but it had commitments from a bunch of states once a certain threshold is reached.
Getting rid of the EC would be hard, changing how it works would be easier.

I looked it up and they are currently at 15 states, and have just under 75% of the electoral votes needed.
Ohio, Pennslyvania and Minnesota are pending.
A compact like this may require Congessional approval, although many scholars say no. There is a chance it may be in effect for the next election, especially if those three states get on board. Once 270 votes are in the compact, the game changes.
