Casino music, can you dig it?

Post by dinghy »

Do you like the background music they play on the casino gaming floor? How would you improve it?

I would turn the volume down to zero. There's enough noise already, and if I want music I can use my own earphones. Failing that, I think I would prefer instrumentals because vocals are more disruptive if I'm trying to have a conversation or listen to my own stuff.

If they absolutely must play the regular atrocities, please expand the playlist beyond 20 songs. I'm so tired of MMMBop every time I visit the Platinum Nugget. It must be hell as an employee.

I don’t minded it that much if it is music I like. Mainly 50s-70s with a few exceptions. Unfortunately, the sound system in places sounds like an airport PA system, which, after all of these years they have never been able to perfect. But by far the worst is when they play constantly, the music of entertainers that are coming to the arena in the next few days and even a few days after they leave. Some of it is really horrible worse than horrible, heavy metal, which I can tolerate from a few artists. Some of it is totally unrecognizable to me as music and has no beat and just words that you can’t understand, and no arrangement at all. Period. Not only will they play one or two songs from it. They will play it all night and repeat it and start all over again absolutely horrible. In fact, I have ended some of my sessions early because of it when it’s really bad stuff.
There is only one thing that irritates me more when I am playing. It used to be the smokers, which thank God in Connecticut, are relegated to go outside now to smoke. Now that that’s out of the way, we still have the screamers. Usually drunk girls playing on one machine that shriek at the top of their lungs whenever they win five bucks. The guys can be just as bad too at roulette or blackjack tables. And the management does not seem to stop him at all from the worst four letter words imaginable I may be a dinosaur, and if so, so be it

Yep, on my phone I keep a playlist of loud songs to drown out Ed Sheeran.

Maybe I should try the noise-canceling earphones.

Where I play the sounds coming out of the PA cannot in anyway be classified as Music. :x Luckily upon entering the casino I can turn my hearing aids to mute.
Indescribable screaming and shrieking but certainly NOT music. I am pretty sure my grandkids probably listen to this garbage.
Which recalls my Fathers reaction to Elvis in 1956.

Caesars is the same old playlist ad infinitum! Taps should be in heavy rotation with all the losing on the floor. I wear earplugs and headphones over them. But you’ll always pick it up, albeit fainter. The results are bad enough. But they could freshen up the list instead of same old same old. Company spent $400M on AC renovations. But some things never change.

Tech…..I remember my mom and dad shaking their heads over the Beatles when they came on the Ed Sullivan Show. More over the haircuts than the music. My dad being a big band musician, as well as an engineer and flight inspector appreciated the complicated arrangements and chord changes on some of the Beatles songs. He particularly liked Michelle.
Speaking of shaking hands, the latest thing I am noticing, especially in Walmart, and a few with the casino, are guys with shaved sides of their head and a carrot top sticking way up on top. They would be good for painting ceiling though.

I hate all the new stuff, but if I keep an open mind, there's a lot to hate about the old stuff. Before the rock era, musical variety shows would often include an annoying Irish tenor. I tried to find a perfect example, but the first one I pulled up was bad enough that I think I'll quit while ahead.

(I don't know how to embed .)

I kinda wish my local would play this at 6am to clear out the overnight drunks.
