Looks like plenty of great stories here .... and, of course, very random, from people hitting a royal their first time to taking years to get it..

I guess that I was lucky. I only play VP, and silently laugh at people that say that I am just playing a "slot machine", and that the odds and big bucks are only at other games LOL!!!!

on my 21st B-day, went to Reno, only had $100 in hand .. Tried, of all things, dollars for the first $50 of the trip .

I was thinking, though I had never read books on the subject, that there was definate potential in VP ..

Funny thing about it was that my friend wanted to come that day, but had to work ..

2 days later, he lent me $100 to go to ceasars Tahoe, got there after midnight ... At that time, the most odd thing happened.

I was playing one of the old sigma machines, JOB 9/6, for over an hour -- incredible for such a low bankroll ... Never hit one quad, just flushes and a few FH .. Many two pairs ..

My friend came over (after being halfway across the casino the whole time) , and brought me a beer ... He told me that I would need this, because I would need it ..That I would have a big hit very shortly... Right, gamblers intuition LOL!!!

Unreal -- about 5 minutes later, Held Q and Ten of hearts, and machine locked up for royal, 4k ... The machine had no sound, and I had no idea what I hit, or for how much, for over 2-3 minutes. I suppose that the beer was appropriate!!

Funny thing is, now, my wife and I almost never go more than 2-3 months without hitting one , playing no more than 5-6 times a month ..

Recently, we had a 9 month cold streak, the worst ever for us .. I told her around the 6month mark that when we did hit, it would likely be multiple hits ..

SURE ENOUGH -- BOOM --- 6 ROYALS IN TWO WEEKS .. TWO WITHIN 30 MINUTES -- 2 WITHIN ONE DAY, ETC!

Since then, I have had incredible luck with royals. At that time, I never had more than $200-$300 to play, yet Hit 4-5 royals that year, including two in two days (dollars) at Bills Tahoe (next to Ceaser)

The number that I have hit since must be in the hundreds, of course, with with triple - 10 play being in the equation .. Hever hit one on 50 or 100 play.

3 royals in less than 30 minutes on one machine, two in less than 10 miutes (on separate machines, no less), many royals holding one card, 3 dealt royals (never on multi play), two royals in two weeks on the same machine, etc ..

I hear many people say that they have never hit one royal in years , sometimes their whole gambling life (spanning from 10-20 years) .. including players that go consitently . Of course, most of these people believe that the machines are "rigged"

To all players, I must say .. Continue ... Do not quit .. Make sure that you follow Bob Dancer's teachings and strategy .. It will pan out, and the law of averages will even out .. When you do hit , in all likelihood, you will hit 2-3 + royals in a short period of time .. This streakiness is the name of the game, or we would not keep playing

Best Regards!

Beginners Luck,

The second time I played VP I hit a RF at Delta Downs in La. (11/18/05) On the previous trip I had been encourage to try VP by the casino slot director who I had become acquainted with. So I played VP a while and did fairly well on a JOB 6/5 machine.

I decided to learn to play VP and practiced online, read books about VP - pay tables, strategy, etc. and practiced for several months. Just thirty minutes after I sat down at the JOB 9/6 machine I hit. Loved going to DD before the state took VP out (it is also a racetrack). They only had 7- 25¢ VP machines with JOB 9/6; 8/5 Bonus, etc. so they were all played really hard. My wife got hooked and we hit nine RF over the next 13 months before they removed VP. On two occasions we hit RF almost back to back.

We play exclusively VP and have now over 3 dozen RF's since that first one. My wife has the best with three in one night between two casinos and two on the same machine within 12 hours another trip. At one time she had four RF in four trips including back-to-back trips on the same 50ç machine with the same hand a week apart.

My best RF streak was 8 RFs in less than two weeks. My worst streak was no royals over 5.5 months of steady play (actually I've done worse but that was when I played infrequently).

RFs don't always tell the whole story. In high variance games like DDB you can still lose if the bonus quads take a vacation.

Bob Dancer writes in his book it's like something in every 15,000 hands should be a royal.  That would be an average over the years.  Sometimes you have streaks and sometimes dry spells.

I think you are referring to aces with a kicker (around 16000) hands. Royals occur, on average, about every 40000 hands.
