Marie, what are your thoughts as to where the hotels are getting people's names for the mailers? vipoker: Where a casino gets our name for mailings could be one of those unsolved mysteries. Definitely from players cards. When we stay at one Harrah or MGM casino, our address would be available to all other Harrah or MGM properties for mailings. I have access to some casino mags but never subscribed to any, so that is not a possibility for my name showing up on the mailing lists.  Each time I have stayed at Venetian, I am confident I will NEVER hear from them again because I choose to play elsewhere. Yet they have not given up on me. WHY? OK, I probably ran more $ through their machines than I remember. I do know why the PALMS is sending me free rooms. THEY want a chance to get their money back from me! MFP is on his first trip to Vegas to celebrate his anniversary and staying at MIRAGE. He will soon be bombarded with mail from MGM-MIRAGE properties AND wherever else he signed up for a players card. Perhaps he will have interesting input re hearing from casinos where he did not play. He best file a Vegas report with us soon! Hey, what are the odds that MFP will hit Vegas again?

like Marie, I always ask for a room near the elevator when I check in and usually get it.
vidopoker : WE may have a problem with future requests for rooms near the elevators. Thanks to our posts, NOW there might be 19,781 forum members requesting rooms near the elevators. They will tell others!  OOPS, WHAT were we thinking?

Hey Marie, are the rooms at MGM Detroit Gold plated. I received an e- mail offer, only $589 a night. Just not right since I helped build that place.

Yo faygo, YOU have helped build a lot of casinos and I am confident they appreciate your donations! YOU had best hop on that room offer before they raise the rates! Sounds a tad pricey. They offer me $50 per week bonus play and have opened a welcome second self-serve beverage station beyond the upscale PALATE buffet. I really like that place when I win! 'Wish you could all see their colossal Michigan grown pumpkin display in person. Pumpkins up to 1200# each are under giant, glass fabricated, autumn leaves suspended over head. There are also 50' Canadian white birch trees in this display at corner of Bagley and Third. http://www.prnewswire.com/mnr/mgm/29571/  Read GRAND GARDEN and click on DOWNLOAD on pumpkin display pix.

Just not right since I helped build that place. faygo, I was on a roll playing VP (DDB and BDW $.25, .50, 1.00) at MGM Detroit today as was Phyllis, winning next to me. Her bro-in-law, from Cincinatti, called MGM about a room and said something like this: "I am thinking of phoning FOUR WINDS (Huge new Native American casino located near New Buffalo, SE MI near the border) for a room, what kind of a deal can YOU make me on a room?" He paid MGM $224 plus tax and registered for a room for the three of them, including his wife and her twin sister. They were very pleased with their room on the 16th floor overlooking Detroit, the Detroit River and Windsor skyline. Point made: IF you do not qualify for a comped room, ask for casino rates OR ask for their best deal and threaten nicely to take your business to another casino and see what happens! faygo: Their $224 rate is a far cry from your offer of $589 for a room at MGM. Is there any reason for MGM to think you are, uh, loaded?

Marie, I just reread the offer. It was for TWO nights ( weekend) with a $300 voucher for a flight to MGM Vegas.
As to your Cinni friends where the guy is sharing a room with his wife and her twin sister, er.. , I don't think I'll go there. Only you Marie run into this stuff.
As a Side note I haven't paid for a room or food at a Casino since 1986.

You got that right! I did not see the husband or twin but the one I spoke to was much older, part of the Silent Generation, 1925-1942. I chose to assume after the drive from Cinci, locating MGM and gambling they were ready for a good nights sleep.(If you have to, log on to Generation X for the generations chart on wikipedia).Phyllis volunteered their room had two beds. Honest, I did not pry or ask for the distribution and really prefer not to know. I figure it's none of my business how others choose to live, beyond my immediate circle. I can only hope this post gets buried fast because Phylis sounded interested when I recommended this site. faygo, HOW does your wife put up with your sense of humor? My husband has a few issues with my sense of humor, but only when we're awake!
