LL, We just spent several hours playing at Seminole Hard Rock at Tampa on Mon. Full sized bill boards "WE NOW HAVE BLACK JACK" caught our eye as we headed towards Tampa. We had not heard of their casinos previously. The FL HR have no connection to the one in Vegas. Perhaps the Tampa casino is similar to the one at Fort Lauderdale. It's a huge place and appears more like a Vegas casino than Native American, as we know them. I only found two banks of VP.  They included  DW 125 WRF,  DDB, etc. It occurred to me that if I moved, I might not find another vacant VP machine that day. They have TITO and I heard some of their redemption machines were down. Ergo, cashiers strolling the floor to redeem tickets. My husband enjoyed the buffet that was approx $20 plus 6% state and other taxes and $5 off with players card. There was a fast food court. I was holding my own on VP. It was $ blazing 7s and lucky 7s while waiting at our front door meeting place for 1 1/2 hrs that killed me. He was waiting in the car.Log on to: Sun Cruz (Port Canaveral, Jacksonville, Key Largo, Myrtle Beach) or Las Vegas cruises in Florida. Had we missed the Sun Cruz at Port Canaveral, the Las Vegas cruise nearby left a half hour later. I noticed some inaccuracies in on line cruise ship listings such as omitting 11:00 AM cruise info for Sun Cruz at Port Canaveral. We are eagerly awaiting your trip report. LUCK!

Larry,The Seminole doesn't have a buffet as far as I am aware.  There is a food station court and also probably 25 different restaurants on the property.  The best is the Council Oaks.  Pricey but well worth it.IOC in PB has a terrific buffet.  The casino itself is much smaller than Hard Rock, but I think it has a wider variety of games VP vs the Hard Rock.  The pay tables vary there, you need to pay attention to the machine.  One right next to you may have a different pay table. As for things to do beyond the casino, Hard Rock is your best bet.  You have all of the restaurants, night clubs, bars, comedy club, stores.  It is a very nice complex.I hope you enjoy your trip!  Let me know if you have any other questions about the area!

Marie,
Thanks for the input about your trip to SHR. I made note of your Sun Cruz when you posted earlier and will check it out as time gets closer. The closest HR to us is in Biloxi and one of my nieces is headed there shortly but I don't believe it is operated by one of the tribes. We didn't make the HR LV in December when we were there.

Sounds like you had an interesting cruise from your other report. Did I recall you saying you were headed to AC to handle the return from the cruise? Sounds like us - we went to our nearest casino (Lake Charles, La. 2 hrs) the week before we went to LV and the weekend after we got back. Went the last two weeks and this weekend we're antsy to go again even though we have already made plans for Valentine's Day Weekend (LC) and in New Orleans two weeks later for our anniversary.

Good Luck in AC.
LL

rockingrobin,
Thanks for the followup on the SHR and IOC-PB. Since we play IOC-Lake Charles we are familiar with most of their operations and their buffet is also really good. We would be able to probably feed everyone on our IOC comps. The IOC-LC is the same. We have some machines with great pay tables and then some next to them with lousy tables. Until Dec. we had a bank of 3/5 play full pay machines (25¢-$1) but they were all lowered on the lower denominations. There are still a few 9/6 DDB 25¢ machines often located next to a 8/5 or 7/5 machine. Some allow 5 coin/ some 10 coin. The dollars are even worse only 3 machines with FP JOB, etc. while they have 4 dedicated only to 9/6 DDB but they are 10 coin only for a RF.

The 50-100 play nickels are too die for. All full pay but they reduced the number by two to add keno in the middle of VP. The slot director complained they weren't making enough to pay the rental fee. Too many playing 1-3 hands on 50/100 play so he reduced the number of machines and made things worse. Lots of players are fighting to play the remaining machines and many of the players will play 25-50-100 hands.

Thanks Again,
Larry
