When to go for a flush?

Post by Eduardo »

Would you ever go for a flush on 3 cards if nothing else lined up?  What about a flush with 4 cards and no option for anything else... say a  2, 3, 7 8.What about a flush vs. a small pair?4,4,8,9 same suit.

I try not to go fo a 3 card flush unless it contains 2 high cards, ex: 6 J K,

or if consectutive ex: 7 8 9.

On the four card flush with no other options,  sure go for it.

A flush with a small pair. I don't know what the books or experts say but I

sometimes keep the small pair and sometimes go for the flush. I guess it just depends on how things are going , and what game and denomination and pay table I am playing. Also I consider if there are suited  face cards,
and if the low pair are 2-3-4 as opposed to 5-6-7-8-9-10.

That is how I do it. And to be honest about your question about flush with low pair, you can have so many options that you just make a chioce and sometimes you win and sometimes you don't. About 50/50 I guess.
